Nick Hexum is a fag. He ruined the band. I was inspired by Tim Mahoney (and P-Nut) learning guitar as a teenager. "Down" taught me power chords.

You were probably about 10 years too old to get into them. As an adult, I can listen to their music and know it's absolutely corny, but I had a lot of really good times as youngster with the albums Music and Grassroots playing in the background, so it will always be my jam due to nostalgia. I don't think I've cared for any of their albums after Transistor.
A couple friends of mine went to SA Martinez's wedding. He's married to the sister of one their friends. It was in East Tennessee.
