Why do people act like we should be so respectful to people just because they died? If someone was a piece of shit, how does death change that? I mean, if it were George Floyd everyone would be making memes and and laughing about it because he too, was a piece of shit.

It's the carnival business. He was an entertainer. What did the guy ever do to you personally?

Its not for them, they're dead. They can't hear the well wishes, or the people who still hate them.

Its out of respect for their family, who regardless of their character, may still have loved them because unconditional love is a thing. And their family may not be pieces of shit, and they probably don't deserve to see a loved one trashed by anonymous mouthbreathers on the internet in the immediate days after their deaths.

Half the people that have such disdain for Hulk Hogan only do so because of identity politics.

They hate the man immensely, but don't really know why other than some vauge bullshit they themeslves don't know context or fact on, or because people they're fans of don't like him.

I mean, I really don't care if you like Hogan or not. But you have people who obviously hate him because he's a racist, because he's a Trump supporter, because he's a this, because he's a that on social media saying that pro-wrestling would still be what it is today had there been no Hogan, and if there hadn't been a Hogan, it'd have just been someone else that got as big & succesful as he did.

Dislike Hogan all you want, but you have to be an absolute retard to not recognize his contributions to the business.

And lol at comparing Hulk Hogan to George Floyd.

That's on par with people calling everyone they don't like "literally Hitler".

100%

Its not a free pass but hogan was a carnie through and through. Time and time again its been shown what the business does to the old timers. They live the gimmick and with kayfabe so long and they end up not knowing reality from fantasy.

Its cool and trendy to hate on hogan these past years, and it goes far beyond his use of racist language. People want to shit on him because of petty dirt sheet stuff like he was "selfish and didnt put people over" or that hogan ,"lies alot."

If hogan hadnt have been selfish and lying alot the majority of us never would have become fans to begin with and believers of hulkamania. People are essentially hating him for being excellent at his job in a carnie business with kayfabe standards. Hogan did the same shit 99% of his peers would have done in his position.

Hogan is forever my hero. Im not as bummed as i should be because the reality of terry bolea admittedly tarnishes stuff for me too but I know its going to bum me out in due time. Really wish he had more of a presence in wwe programming these past years. The stuff that happened with sammartino happened again with hogan.

RIP to the immortal Hulk Hogan

I hope the Cleveland crowd tomorrow night is respectful. A lot of newer fans can never separate the art from the artist, and are so used to being shit-weasels online that they don't know how to act in person.

Save it for your blogs, it won't be a night to let the world know how much hate Terry Bollea because of stuff you've heard he did, or his politics you didn't approve of. It will be a night for friends and coworkers, and people who idolized him growing up, to remember the immortal legacy of Hulk Hogan.

Always remember 'Hulk Hogan' wrestled 400 days a year, influenced an entire generation of kids to say their prayers and eat their vitamins, and had a 10 inch penis.

Terry Bollea was an old racist carnie piece of shit.

Kinda like:

Robert Sylvester Kelly is a piece of shit sexual predator.

R Kelly believed he could fly.

Gotta be able to separate the character from the actual person.

Pro wrestling isn't anywhere near as big as it is today without Hogan.

The behind the scenes stuff and personal life of the human wasn't great.

Crazy that Flair has outlasted pretty much everyone from that era, while partying harder than anyone for many years.

RIP brother

It was hyperbole. He was the only POS (George) that came to mind and drew up an extreme case to show you that the guy doesn’t have to do anything directly to you for you to call them a piece of shit.

I grew up as a Hulkamaniac. Saw him live and met him in person when his daughter was just starting a career as a singer. I loved the guy and probably the only famous person I would be distraught about if I heard they died.

That being said, the thing that completely turned me off was how he was trying to get a TV deal for his son after he basically killed a guy. Hogan seemed like he didn’t give a shit about the kid or his family, only about profiting off the catastrophe. Then I started hearing more and more stuff about his backstage politics and compulsive lying and I realized the dude was a huge piece of shit.

I recognize he was good for business but you know what, if Vince McMahon died tomorrow I would call him a piece of shit too knowing full well we wouldn’t have had wrestling as we know it today without him. Too many people want to act like death wipes away the awfulness someone has done. I know there are people out there that don’t like me and when I die they will call me a piece of shit and that is okay with me. I would be more offended if they acted all nicey nice about it and were two faced but that’s just me, I believe in keeping it real.

I think I’ve seen every wrestler from the Tampa area interviewed on the local news.

This is the stuff that I honestly think matters the least and that its a bit unfair to hate hogan in. Workplace backstage politics? 99% of wrestlers would have done what Hogan did if in his place. Everyone wanted hogan's spot. history has shown repeatedly how isolating that top spot is and what it does to that individual. There is an absurd amount of pressure on that INDIVIDUAL to carry the company and put food on EVERY ONE ELSE's plate. The mentality has changed a lot over the past decade but it was for sure very real in hogan's era. He was the golden goose. Also all the talk about a wrestlers union is ridiculous. It was never going to happen. Wwe has had how many years without hogan and its never come close to happening. At most they would have held up vince and gotten some money...then all be fired.

As for his lying....its a completely carnie business, especially in Hogan's era. All those old timers got messed up with their reality testing because of having to live the gimmick and kayfabe. Holy shit a bunch of wrestlers wouldnt even tell their own families it was a work. Telling a good story rather than the truth was how these guys were molded so they could entertain us. Look at flair, and the flack he gets for being a self centered asshole especially whenever he is out in public. Its not a free pass, and i dont blame people in his personal life keeping distance from him(including hhh and the E) but well he went decades w/ tunnel vision focused on getting over. If flair didnt get over and focus on being the center of the attention then the company would fail too.
Hogan had to be an excellent bullshitter to entertain the Fuck out of everyone. He became unable to turn it off though and id bet a lot of money he struggled knowinf what was real or not and that it interfered with his daily life.

You see a real difference with modern wrestlers to refer to their gimmick name as "their character' which is an extreme departure from how it was done for decades. A big part of that im sure is to reduce the tole it takes on their sanity. Stephanie mcmahon does it A LOT in interviews and her podcast. Theres for sure business motivation their too in hhh and her case.

Im taking a wild guess youve never even met the man. I havent met him either but A bunch of his african american peers and colleagues stood up for hogan after the tapes were released. They defended him and said he always treated them right. Ill take their word far more than internet jackasses dogpiling in these scenarios. Bolea was for sure a flawed dude but the animosity you want to spew comparing him to a sexual predator like r kelly is pretty fn ridiculous.

You then want to hate on him and treat him like an evil villian because hogan cant stop telling tall tales. Pretty ridiculous level of response.

Peacock has an entire Hulk collection out on the WWE section.

I actually think Hulkster would approve of working these marks.

I was listening to Jim Cornette and Brian Last talking about Hulk Hogan. They said could get the people Hogan fucked over feeling a little satisfaction but they just didn't understand the glee that so many other people seem to be expressing.

They also noted that for every person who actually worked with Hogan and got fucked over by him there were probably a dozen he went out of his way to help even when there was nothing in it for him.

I listened to part of that, too - it was a good listen. I'm with them on being surprised at how many people were disturbingly happy that he was dead.

The number of times I saw him compared to both Benoit & OJ Simpson - a pair of double-murderers - was mind-bottling.
