I haven't really went to any local fights. Where I am we don't have much of an MMA scene, though I'd like to start attending some events, as I'm looking to train more than just BJJ now.

How often do you go, what are things you notice?

Are the fights any good, any interesting observations or good stories from local shows?

I realize it's an entirely different experience, and I've only been to one fight live (UFC Boston in 2013) so I'm interested in what it's like and if people recommend it....

The only MMA event I've been to was a local CFC event in 2007. I went by myself because none of my friends are into MMA and it was a fucking blast.

I generally only go when my teammates are fighting.

It's been awhile. I like them in smaller venues/mixed rules. Sweaty, stinky, high tension, murder in the air.
Once a year now, more when I was younger.

i love going to local fights. they aren't ever close to as technical as the top pros, but it's fun, and i know a lot of them, so i really get into it.

I went to KOTC in Vernon BC years ago when Rory was fighting with other guys from Toshidos but those days are done. I have a buddy who knows a promoter in Vancouver and seen shows there as well. My buddy gets us Joe Rogsn swats and its so awesome, need to cover your drink to keep the blood out. I don't go at all now as most the shows are held in Vancouver which is 4 hours away. If nobody's ever been to a small show its well worth it.

I've been to two local amateur events and both times the atmosphere made me feel like I was at a UFC. Great crowd. Fights were awesome. Cage girls were hot. And you could stand right in front of the cage. The crowd was mostly team members and their family and friends.

I probably would have been bored watching the same events on tv, but live and that intimate is a whole other story.

I should go to another show.

Not nearly enough. I totally am dropping the ball because Legacy fights happens in Allen Texas which is like 20-30minute drive for me. Matter of fact, thanks OP, I'm going to go to their website to see if I can get signed up on an email alert or find them on facebook or something. I would really enjoy taking my two sons to a local event and seeing the vibe and fights.

I was going to local events once a month, sometimes more, but one of our local promoters stopped promoting her own events and went to work as the matchmaker for a bigger promotion. So now it's once every 2 months or so.
