Great post, Coconut. Like this hereSame, the whole PED deal got brought up in the 185 fight night discussion. They'll never do more extensive testing because they don't want the majority of the field on suspension and it's cost prohibitive. Every professional sport has plenty of athletes using PEDs of some sort at some point, it's part of pro sports. The outrage that has happened is usually media driven feeding into this idiotic need we Americans have for ripping people down off of the ridiculous pedestals we put them on in the first place because it makes us feel good to watch them fall and then to kick dirt in their faces. I mean, really, that's sure what it seems like.
In my opinion, if the UFC was going to do something game changing and forward thinking...how about actually managing the practice, overseeing the use, full transparency. Fighters will know who is using what and be able to choose if they want to still go forward well in advance. Put all the cards on the table. What they are doing now is risky, not to the UFC but to the fighters who go in there risking their health and safety. Yes, they choose to, but they should at least be able to base that choice off of full understanding of what they are getting themselves into.
All that said, I have MUCH more appreciation for natural athletes, the few that still exist.
Did you not use because it is against the rules or more so a moral issue? I've never competed at any sports at a high level but its seems to be the way to go whether its amatuer mma or the Olympics.Since my college wrestling career ended, I have spent a lot of time training with and coaching professional fighters. A lot has been at the highest levels.
One of the main reasons I decided not to make fighting my career is PEDs.
I definitely care.
It was a dilemma. In college wrestling, I never came across PEDs. Not once. So not using PEDs was really easy and I didn't feel like I was at a disadvantage.Did you not use because it is against the rules or more so a moral issue? You'd think showing NFL players their elders drooling and unable to remember in what city they live and the Junior Seau details, as well as all the facts on concussions, CET, dementia etc, would wake them up too.PEDS is about the health of the Atlete not about fair play.
Fighters should think about the long term health damage.
Or they decided not to compete as they did not want to face cheaters or take PED's themselves.Period. I don't care. Majority are doing it and it truly doesn't matter.. most of the people who are against them havent competed in anything in their entire lives but are saying what can or cannot be done.

I agree with your post 100%, but do you really think the guys competing in the UFC would think any less of themselves when they look in the mirror? not at all they would probably say damn i need another injection. These guys that juice dont have morals nor care all they want is the money and fame. Down the road when they are all broken down and in need, maybe then they will look back and regret it all.[/QUOTE
I
Without looking I thought I remember watching an NSAC thing with the Jon Jones deal and the issue was that NSAC has not fully adopted wada or Vada and that's a sticking point. Is this correct?
