Thinking about a quick trip there in a few months. Flights are not too expensive and I have not been there yet. Might go to Thor’s gym if I have time. What should we see / do? Also might go to Oslo in same trip. Plans are subject to change; Cape Verde has a good deal right now too. Probably Iceland though...

I just had to do a 20 minute PowerPoint on Iceland for a college final; learned more about Iceland than I ever thought I would.
    Incredible land.

Had an unexpected overnight which was only supposed to be a 6 hour layover.

    Looked like Aushwitz.

He was drunk and fell out his machine gun tower

Gentleman, let me tell you the story of the 5 Dollar Box.

A while back MrsMedic asked me if there was anywhere in the world that I'd like to travel.

I said Iceland, just from the few things I had seen on TV.

We already have a few different accounts for different things and didn't want to start another one.

Enter the $5 Box and the bane of my existence at times. It comes with rules that basically say anytime you (me) gets a $5 bill as change, it goes into the box.
Now, without fail, if we're out together I always get at least a couple fives in change. She just giggles and puts out her hand.
I'll occasionally toss her my wallet because she needs cash for something and a second later it's "mmm hmmmm, holding out I see" and boom, she pulls 3 or 6 out. That's not counting the money she wanted in the first place.

Five Dollar Box is really cutting into my "whatever" cash I usually carry.

See you in Iceland, there's already a couple grand in that shoe box in the safe.

Trip in all was a week long and covered 3 countries (Sweden, Denmark and Iceland). Highly recommend all three. Ate reindeer, elk, puffin and fermented shark. Pass on the shark because it is foul!

3 different people I know went to Iceland.
    They all enjoyed it.
It's the end of the world type of place.

All tried the fermented shark and thought it was just gross. And they're foodies.

Did you enjoy the rotten eggs showers?

It feels hotter by the vents (man made docks that pump the water) than what wiki states. Air temp that day was 45-50 F. The bad part was it was so windy that flights were getting canceled and there were ice pellets in the wind and rain. Beer makes it feel less harsh.
    Copied from wiki:
The water's milky blue shade is due to its high silica content. The silica forms soft white mud on the bottom of the lake which bathers rub on themselves. The water is also rich in salts and algae. The water temperature in the bathing and swimming area of the lagoon averages 37–39 °C (99–102 °F).
