I'm seeing how Conor is different up close.

We went to the open workouts yesterday and it was a great experience. About 500 people jammed in a fairly small room at MGM with a little stage for the fighters to show off. Chad, Robbie, Rory and Conor all were slotted for 30 minutes each from 1:00-3:00. The first three would walk out, get on stage first and wave and crowd would react then they'd get into it. After about 15 minutes they'd towel off and go to the floor level for a brief interview then off they went.

Conor is last and the first thing he does is go right to the pumped fans at the far end and walk the length getting pics and hand shakes in no real hurry. Once he does this he hits the stage for some waving for more pics then he starts to stretch out. His work out was about 45 minutes and did everything from frog hops to striking to grappling and so on. Once that's done he does the expected interview with another quick finish prediction then back to the crowd. He must've spent another 20 minutes making sure as many people possible got pictures, posters signed, shirt signed making conversation and jokes and just basically killing it with crowd. Here's my wife....

This is one of three that I took and he was in no hurry. He told so many fans "ya ya of course I'll sign that!" with a big smile. One pretty girl asks him to sign her shirt and he goes on to ask "are you sure? It's quite a nice top I must say, looks great" lol.

For myself as a regular Conor fan going in I have to admit I'm a much bigger supporter now. Guy loves the fans and gives them all kinds of attention and time and that's all it takes. I was mainly looking forward to seeing Rory up there but him and the others all should've done the same thing as Conor. Hit up the crowd as much as possible, that's the only reason why you're there. If those guys took the last ten minutes they had and did pics and some signing it would go over so fucking good for there rep, it can't be hard to do right? I've sipped the Kool-Aid TMMAC, and its sweet, Conor is awesome in my books.

Awesome. It's a shame that he gets a lot of hate from fans because of his relationship with Dana. He's one of the good guys in this sport.

after all I have seen here and reading about that kid he talked to who just passed away, I have to say he is making it extremely difficult for me to go with mendes and I have a 120 day screen name banked on mendes........I just wanted to hate, but I'm struggling now

Ok so once again Conor comes through. Presser winds up and stage clears off, all but Conor. Why don't these other guys on the panel stick around for pics and so on? Conor was out there for another 10 minutes smiling for fans and signing shit.

Awesome Birdy. Not surprised at all. Conor's charisma is tremendous and he knows what the fan support is worth.

The thing is, of all people in the UFC that don't need to be nice, so to speak, it's Conor........he's daners boyfriend and doesn't have to be the friendly guy......he could be arrogant as fu-k but he's not....the rest of the fighters could learn a thing or two about how to act with the fans...he's killing my mojo for this fight as my heart always goes with the good guy when I hear stuff like this. Long time ago I met Andre Reed from the buffalo bills......could have been arrogant but bought me a drink (college kid with very little cash and he was at our university visiting with his brother)........fuc-ing fan for life.........Conor is winning me over

Conor doesn't just get a bad rap because his Dana relationship, it's largely because he's arrogant, cocky, and disrespectful to his opponents.
This isn't just confidence we're seeing, it's MASSIVE amounts of testosterone and hubris.
If he takes out Mendes impressively, he will have changed my stance on an Aldo fight from "I hope he gets his ass beat", to "I just want to see a great fight".

As of today, he's an unproven fighter in the elite sense, who knows how to connect with fans, and needed badly to after his off-the-wall shenanigans in the past SEVERAL months.
It sounds like he did that effectively.
Next, win the fight decisively.
Then he has my blessing to act a fool.
I really don't see it happening.

great to hear about him giving fans love and really appreciating them instead of ignoring them and just getting a pay cheque.

A lot of fighters---well, celebrities in general---get very worn by the stress of promoting their fight/movie/campaign or whatever. Near the end of that promotion, you see frayed nerves and often enough the worst of that person comes out. Conor is holding everything together very impressively. Like Chael, I'm dumbfounded at his ability to train and run through this whirlwind press tour at the same time.

The promotion for this fight (well, with Aldo as opponent originally) has been going on for what, 4 months now?---and it's been full speed, non-stop since day one. I guess we'll have to see about him making the weight and performing well come fight time, but I'm willing to bet he's "on point" for both. Fuckin' amazing.
