Pretty bad ass.

With the exception of Brittania, which they didn't hold onto for long, and northern France, those fuckers really didn't like the cold

I wouldn't be surprised, it makes sense to use pre-existing pathways. It would be a significant upgrade though, right? From essentially compacted mud pathways to actual roads with foundations.
Ye course it's the only way really... It helps explain how extensive the network was as well that map looks like a modern road system. Ye there is no doubt the Romans knew how to build things

Zeph @Zeph love this link. i'll get lost in internet world for a while and learn stuff, thanks.
I'm fascinated by ancient civilization. I'm truly amazed by all the organization of the roman empire ( the republic until the fall) and how effectively it spread.
the legal developments of the senate, maintaining huge legions and caring for the citizens and the consistent use of the grid layout in city planning after the conquests, took some work, incredible strategic planning and communication to conquer so much of the known world.

it's cool to figure out how much current western civilization has been influenced by the inventions of the roman empire in regard to laws, politics and public welfare..although i was a bit shocked when i found out how and where decimation originated...

gonna go click stuff on the map now.. fun times. :)
