is jamal khashoggi related to saudi arms dealer adnan khashoggi?
Yup thats his uncle.

Does that make his murder any less concerning?

Saudi arms dealer.. I think the title holds more weight than the actual position. Trump doesn't want to cancel the weapons deal correct? So Adnan would be one of those arms dealers supplies by America?

Notice the Saudis are silent on the Israelis and Palestinians? This is a soft and timid alignment with Saudi and Israel to the west in an anti-Iranian position. The rest of the middle east uses the Palestinian crisis at various levels of disingenuous talking points to maintain a position against Israel.
And whats going on in Yemen? Houthis took over, "death to the west", etc. Intervention was authorized and the Saudis are leading it while going crazy with no regard to the types of things we think of as "fair war". Iran is backing the Houthi rebels and with it the Yemen civil war is another Saudi/Iran proxy which is eventually West V Chine/Russia proxy.
Iranian involvement with the Houthis is largely overblown. As for using the Palestinian crisis for disingenous talking points could you please cite some?

Also, Iran is an absolutely terrorist funding, destabilizing shithole ( Iran and state-sponsored terrorism - Wikipedia ) as well. Those in this thread that think because Iran has more domestic civil rights on visible things (hijab instead of abaya, didn't kill everyone during the mass crackdowns of the arab spring , can vote for the dictator hand picked candidate) are really missing that for every Saudi or Iran move there is a counter move of the other. One being "less bad" isn't even a real possible conversation given no standard in how to even grade something like that while both are doing so many bad things.
I wonder why Iran was funding terrorist groups against the U.S. maybe it was because the U.S. was funding Iraq in their war to conquer Iran? It's pretty rich for an American to call another state a destablizing shitehole. Just have a look at this list of countries the U.S. has been involved in overthrowing their governments.

Iran was a democracy until it was overthrown by the U.S. so they could install their own dictator.
Th Trump isn't totally stupid and he doesn't believe the Saudis BS story. He's keeping up a middle of the road tone such that he can go either way, including looking for ways to save this gamble that is falling apart.
Bullshit Trump already came out in support of him and in return the Saudi's paid the Kurds a $100mil in aid. Money that had been promised by the U.S. to their allies but Trump had reneged on paying.

I think what we're doing is rewriting history. So allow me to express a version I think they would want us to accept.

As best as I can ascertain, Jamal Khashoggi went into the Consulate apparently to get a marriage certificate? Once inside he suddenly became aggressive & belligerent and towards the normally meek and mild highly trained Saudi security peeps who just happened to have dropped in to Turkey for a visit.

These men were at a loss as what to do with their day (since apparently His Royal Highness Prince Mohammad Bin Salman had given them all the day off) so thought it would be a jolly 'ol laugh riot to charter two planes to visit Turkey for a couple of hours.

They greeted Khashoggi cordially but he snapped and decided to go all Bruce Lee on them never mind the fact he is overweight, old, and out-of-shape. This dangerous reporter decided to take on a dozen or more highly trained professional soldiers half his age.

In the process of defending themselves, Khashoggi repeatedly ran into their fists AND the bonesaw one of them must have mistakenly packed for his 2 hour trip. He then decided to tap out early by wrapping one of the security teams fingers round his own throat until he died by asphyxiation. Jamal would have done this himself but he had already accidentally chopped his own fingers off with the aforementioned bonesaw.

Jamal then dismembered himself, jumped into several suitcases and snuck out of the Consulate in the confusion, hiding his parts in... Lord only knows where. Oh, and of course pulled the greatest disappearing act since the Last Jedi, by dissolving himself in some acid.

The security team were so shocked at Khashoggi's bizarre behaviour, they rushed back to Saudi Arabia and denied all knowledge. One of them even killed himself off in a traffic accident because he was so distraught!

Yep, seems legit - right, guys? Guys?

Glad it's all been cleared up and Trump can get back to more important things, like lauding politicians who body slam reporters - because you know, reporters are dangerous; like Jamal Khashoggi.
Finally some clarity, I'm relieved and comforted by this.

So the Saudis have changed the story from "fist fight" back to "rogue agents"

At times like this, don't you wish Bernie was your President?
I wish Bernie was their president but their culture is to power mad and frankly ignorant to allow it. The man WENT TO RUSSIA during the cold war, he's clearly a warlock of Lucifer. It's the only rational answer.

Well then why are people still talking about it?
The same reason why people felt it's a big deal when Kim Jong Un had his brother taken out. There is a ethical problem that you can point your finger at North Korea and put it down to them being an evil regime and that's why you isolate them. But when Saudia Arabia puts a hit on a journalist you dont point your finger or say anything bad because you have a mutual financial and political agenda. Super hypocritical.

Trump: Saudi handling of Khashoggi killing 'worst cover-up ever'
US President Donald Trump has criticised Saudi Arabia's handling of the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, saying authorities staged the "worst cover-up ever".

Asked by a reporter in the White House how the Khashoggi killing could have happened, Trump said on Tuesday: "They had a very bad original concept. It was carried out poorly, and the cover-up was one of the worst in the history of cover-ups.

"There should have never been an execution or a cover-up, because it should have never happened. I would say it was a total fiasco from day one."

Khashoggi's death in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2 has caused global outrage.

Khashoggi, a critic of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, was a US resident and columnist for The Washington Post.

Trump's comments about the incident in recent days have ranged from threatening Saudi Arabia with "very severe" consequences and mentioning possible economic sanctions, to more conciliatory remarks highlighting the country's role as a US ally against Iran, as well as a major purchaser of US arms.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters on Tuesday that Washington has identified some of the individuals responsible for Khashoggi's killing and is planning punishments.

"We are taking appropriate actions," Pompeo said on Tuesday, saying this including possible visa revocations and applying individual sanctions under human rights laws. He noted some of those identified work for ministries and the royal court.

"These penalties will not be the last word on the matter," he said.

Turkey demands answers
Riyadh initially denied knowledge of Khashoggi's fate before saying he was killed in a fight in the consulate, a reaction that was met with scepticism from governments and commentators around the world.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has contradicted that account, saying Khashoggi's killing was a "political murder" that was planned by Saudi officials days in advance.

He pledged to answer all questions about the death, and stopped short of accusing Saudi royals of the "savage" killing.

Responding to Erdogan's comments, Trump said the Turkish leader was "pretty rough" on the Saudis and that he wants to get all facts on Khashoggi's killing before agreeing with that assessment.

Trump, who sent his CIA director to Turkey to discuss the issue, said he expected to have a report soon.

He added that he would defer to the US Congress on a response to Saudi Arabia.

"In terms of what we ultimately do, I'm going to leave it very much - in conjunction with me - I'm going to leave it up to Congress," Trump said.

Jamal Khashoggi’s fiancee declines Donald Trump’s White House invite
The fiancee of slain Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi on Friday said she did not accept an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to visit the White House because she thought it was aimed at influencing public opinion in his own favor.

In her first television interview since the killing, Hatice Cengiz recounted the events leading up to their visit to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on Oct. 2 where Khashoggi handed her his two mobile phones and went inside while she waited outside for him to emerge.

Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist and a critic of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, disappeared after entering the consulate to obtain paperwork necessary for his upcoming marriage to Cengiz, a Turkish national. After weeks of denying knowledge of whereabouts, and changing its story a number of times, Riyadh has said his killing was premeditated.

“Trump invited me to the United States but I perceived it as a statement to win public favour,” Cengiz told broadcaster Haberturk, pausing at times during an interview and more than once breaking down in tears.

Trump and Prince Mohammed have cultivated warm ties though the U.S. president said earlier this week that the crown prince, as the kingdom’s de facto ruler, bore ultimate responsibility for the operation against Khashoggi. Trump also said Riyadh had staged the “worst cover-up ever” over the killing.

Cengiz said Khashoggi was concerned tensions would arise when he visited the consulate for the first time on Sept. 28, but he was treated well at that visit, which appeared to reassure him, she said.

He later assumed he would not ultimately be arrested or harmed in Turkey, she said.

“His local network in Turkey was very good as you know, his political network as well,” Cengiz said. “He thought Turkey is a safe country and if he would be held or interrogated, this issue would be swiftly solved.”

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan urged Saudi Arabia on Friday to disclose who ordered Khashoggi’s murder, as well as the location of his body, heightening international pressure on the kingdom to come clean on the case.
