Are so massively different in size yet because of their almost perfect distance from planet Earth they appear the same size In the sky.

It blows my mind. It’s only when we get eclipses that we realise how freaky this is.

How did it happen to make it so? Is there some higher authority that made this or is it just a trillion in a trillion chance?

No other planet in our solar system has the same satellite that does this. And when you consider the moon is responsible for our tides and the sun is the perfect distance to not harm us thanks to the iron catastrophe it just makes you believe we really are alone in the universe.

how can such events happen?

I do believe in aliens for the record.

im just spitballing here. but it may be correlation

an ocean of H2O allows for the moon to behave the way it does. and an ocean of H2O also allows for the evolution of species from water to land

in terms of them being the same size. that type of conversation is above my paygrade for sure, since light bends

Gravity will dictate how close the moon is to the earth and how close the earth is to the sun.

“The fact that solar eclipses are as dramatic as they are raises an important question. Why does the Moon almost perfectly cover the Sun during an eclipse? For the Sun to be fully blocked by the Moon, it needs to look like it is roughly the same size as the Moon when viewed from Earth. As it happens, even though the Moon is 400 times smaller than the Sun, it's also about 400 times closer to Earth than the Sun is. This means that from Earth, the Moon and Sun appear to be roughly the same size in the sky. It is a complete coincidence.”

How come we never see the backside of the moon?

That thing is just staring at us out of it's cheese our entire lives.

We don't see the far sidebecause “the moon is tidally locked to the Earth,” said John Keller, deputy project scientist for NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter project. ... If the moon were a perfect sphere, then the gravity felt on the far side and the near side (or Earth's side), would cancel each other out.

Does that math check out for other planets relationship with their moons?

1:9 (still real to me dammit) unless there are some other planets out there that youve explored. Our sample size is small.
9 Planets.

Of their many moons how many are tidally locked?

What about the 1Oth Planet?

The rubber guard doesn’t work

All major moons of Jupiter and Saturn show the same face to their parent. Pluto and Charon are even stranger, the two worlds are locked, facing one another for all eternity. Astronomers call this tidal locking, and happens because of the gravitational interaction between worlds.
