The second half of the opening round of Rizing Fighting Federation’s bantamweight tournament is now complete.
The Japanese promotion announced Tuesday that a clash between Road FC veteran Jae Hoon Moon and Superior Challenge titlist Kevin Petshi will round out the ‘B’ portion of the bracket on Oct. 15, which also includes Shintaro Ishiwatari vs. Akhmed Musakaev and Erson Yamamoto vs. Manel Kape. The winners will join Kyoji Horiguchi, Takafumi Otsuka and Khalid Taha in the quarterfinals on Dec. 29.
Additionally, Rizin announced that Tenshin Nasukawa will square off Yamato Fujita, a Japanese boxer making his MMA debut at the event. Rizin “Aki No Jin” takes place at Marine Messe Fukuoka in Fukuoka, Japan and will also feature the opening round of the women’s super atomweight grand prix.
The 33-year-old Moon last competed at Road FC 39 on June 10, where he defeated Kai Asakura via third-round knockout. The South Korean is 9-9 as a professional, with three wins by KO/TKO and six by decision.
Petshi, 27, enters the matchup on a three-fight winning streak where he has finished each of his opponents by rear-naked choke within two rounds. The Frenchman owns a 12-3 career mark, with seven victories by tapout and two via KO/TKO.
