It turns out Jake Paul really didn’t want to hurt Mike Tyson after all.

Despite a whole lot of pre-fight trash talk and an altercation at the weigh-ins where Tyson slapped Paul across the face, the 27-year-old social influencer turned boxer wasn’t trying to harm an all-time legend. Now that’s not to say Paul didn’t want to finish the fight but as the bout moved into the later rounds, he couldn’t help but realize that Tyson shifted into survival mode and he just couldn’t force himself to go for the knockout.

“Yeah definitely [took my foot off the gas],” Paul said at the post-fight press conference. “Definitely a bit. I wanted to give the fans a show but I didn’t want to hurt someone that didn’t need to be hurt.”

I hate this guy but credit to him for recognising Tyson doesn’t belong in a ring at 58 .

Pity the Texas state athletic commission didn't in the first place, we don’t need to see former greats sell their name to YouTubers, shit was sad, Tyson could barely walk to the ring, he was stationary in there, completely off balance throwing punches, absolutely no ability to close distance.

Shameful display.

This is bullshit.
He didn't KO Tyson because he couldn't read him & didn't wanna get KO'd himself.
He tried a few times with flurries that didn't bother Tyson near as much as the 3rd round.
His corner straight up told him between the 3rd & 4th.

It's like when Randy Couture had to SCREAM at Vitor to "GO" vs. Terry Martin in Affliction.
The ebb & flow of a fight hypnotizes the fighter in the ring.
That's what happened to Jake, and we see it all the time.

I said that to my buddy. He realized from the 1st round (that he lost), that Tyson could still clip him and by the end of the 2nd round, realized Tyson couldn't move anymore, so he stayed outside and hit and run. And he hit him plenty of times VERY hard so the no KO thing is soooo flimsy. I even told my friend that Paul was going to tell people he didn't want to hurt Tyson. Paul should stick to Crypto scams...

He could have KO'd Tyson at any time from round 3 on. They probably had a no KO agreement or he didn't want to be remembered as the guy that KO'd disabled, senior citizen Tyson.

I don't even know how to talk to people anymore about fights I just give up.
"Agree to disagree".
When there's a gargantuan ego on the line, they'll say anything after the fact.
"FIX!"
"Gentleman's agreement!"
No, he didn't want to push for 3 consecutive flurries and fail, then look tired vs. a "58-year old man", or get clipped & change the fight dynamic, and have that on his resume.
I've been in several fights where I should have kicked somebody's ass way quicker, But forgot to breathe and got tired. Then had to re breathe and act like I wasn't tired so I continue to look like a bad ass.
It's why the term "he let him back into the fight" exists.
Jake definitely could have knocked him out no question at any point after the third and even during the third.
He's only 27 with a dozen fights.
Even highly experienced guys can't read and execute perfectly and we see it all the f****** time.
