Joe Warren has joined Nick Diaz on the list of weed offenders in MMA.

The former Bellator champion tested positive for marijuana following his win over L.C. Davis at Bellator 143 in Hidalgo, Texas, according to a report by Jason Floyd of The MMA Report. Texas Combative Sports Program director Greg Alvarez told MMA Fighting on Friday night that Warren will be suspended 90 days.

According to documents Floyd obtained through a public-records request, Warren had 53 ng/ml of marijuana metabolites in his system. The threshold in Texas is 50 ng/ml. The Nevada Athletic Commission upped its threshold in recent years to 150 ng/ml. Diaz was suspended five years for his third defense in Nevada last month.

When UFC fighter Jessica Eye popped for pot in Texas two years, she received a probationary suspension of one year. Eye was allowed to compete four months later against Alexis Davis at UFC 170 in February 2014.

Warren (13-4) was going to step into a bantamweight title rematch with Marcos Galvao next week at Bellator 144, according to a report by MMA Fighting's Guilherme Cruz. But now it's clear why he could not. Galvao was supposed to defend the belt against Eduardo Dantas until Dantas got injured and pulled out.

Warren, 38, is a former Bellator featherweight and bantamweight champion. He dropped the bantamweight belt to Galvao in March.

I saw this earlier but couldn't figure out how to post the link.

I definitely have no problem with people blazing up but Joe Warrens a huge hypocrite.

He threw Diaz under the bus a week or two saying he needs to accept responsibility and face his punishment.

Then goes on and fails a test for weed lol.

I'm not signing his petition if there is one.

His initial tweet on the Diaz situation was "You break the rules you pay" or close to it, then deleted the post and re-tweet Chaels free Diaz shirt.

Warren is a hypocrite and gets off light again, neither should face shit but if I had to choose who to back it ain't Warren, in any lifetime.

Also is weird that employers aren't testing for any drug use lately. My last 3 jobs never tested even at point of hire. Criminal & background checks but no drugs.

People are moving past the idea that companies can control what people do in their spare time.

I'm cool with it because it's not a job where anyone could be affected if someone is high as Cootie Brown. Weed smokers go overboard but I just ignore them after lunch. No bfd.

100% against drug tests at the work place, unless you're an athlete and it's relevant to make sure you're not using steroids. Such an invasion of privacy.

Sucks for Joe Warren. I saw people saying he was a hypocrite but I don't think he is. All he said about Nick was that if you break the rules, you have to deal with the consequences. Joe arguably lost a lot more than Nick because of weed, because a positive test kept him from competing in the 2008 Olympics.

Which he whines about at every opp, I'm only aware of it from being forced to sit thru a few of his interviews and podcast stints. He's not sucking it the fuck up like he recommends Diaz do."

he does look like a hypocrite but to be fair it's not because of that quote. I smoke pot and I agree that if "you break a law, you should deal with it"

I don't agree with the law but what can you do. what I find weird about Warren is that he whines far too much for someone who dubs himself "the baddest man on earth".

is it really breaking the law if you have a medicinal licence and it was consumed in a legal state?

Yes, Federal law still classifies it as a controlled substance regardless of the state/local laws. That's why I don't understand these guys opening up dispensaries and whatnot. They are sitting right out in the open violating Federal laws. Will the DEA/3 letter agencies swoop in and shut them all down overnight? Who knows.

90 days sounds reasonable but Texas should raise the limit to the highest reported state
If they are gonna respect each others bans, absolutely.

It's bullshit with such huge variations.

Prob not

But that is why I dont own a dispensary.
I have a medical license and an authorized DEA number to dispense controlled substances.

Weed association probably fucks all that.
