Following his loss to Jon Jones at UFC 214, Daniel Cormier was quite emotional. Part of this emotion led to him jostling with referee John McCarthy a bit, and DC took the time to apologize to Big John in his first public statement in the aftermath of the fight.

McCarthy was quick to respond on Twitter, not having any issues with Cormier’s actions:

1/2 @dc_mma U have nothing to apologize for. You have been an incredible champion who has represented the sport of MMA with class & dignity

— Big John McCarthy (@JohnMcCarthyMMA) July 31, 2017

2/2 @dc_mma you also fought a great fight against an incredible competitor. It was an honor being in the cage with 2 of the greatest…

DC didn't know which way the ground was. He got ktfo and was super confused. I agree with Big John

BJM is the best. He gave DC more than enough time to get back into the fight, but it just wasn't happening. Matter of fact, he probably let it go on 3-4 punches too long. Cormier's just ultra competitive and was emotional in the heat of the moment. Good to see he recognizes it now.

We've all stumbled around in an incoherent manner physically and verbally attacking police officers after they pulled away large African American men from pounding us from behind up against a chain link fence, yelling 'why did you stop it?! I wasn't finished yet!'

Unfortunately, not all police officers, judges and still unpaid male prostitutes are as good sports about it as Big John.

Yeah DC was out of it for awhile. Looks like it took more then a few people to get him to
understand he got knocked out. Joe was saying often times a guy gets knocked out and asks
what happened and you tell him and they acknowledge it.... then seconds later they ask you what
happened all over again. Crazy

Everyone blames Joe for interviewing him (and he shouldn't have and he knows that and just fucked up) but quite frankly I don't see why DC's corner let him do the interview. They should have stepped in and said he had to go and get an eval.....

There is a reason he is the best. I wouldn't want anyone else in the cage as third man. Things like this are another reason, the stoppage was fine, hindsight is hindsight

Tan Murkliotta would have made sure DC was unavailable for a interview after the fight.
