Why does it seem that when the LHW champ outs on his typical dominating performance over a top contender so many cry foul due to his size? This weekend we saw a very similar scenario with Rockholds dismantling of Machida and I haven't read similar criticism towards him.

What are your thoughts in this TMC? How come we see virtually no comments about how Luke needs to be at LHW when so many are vocal to credit Jon's success to his physique?

I'm looking at you Psychotropic Wanderlust @RJJH

Because Luke is white.

I'm going to take a stab at this. I think it is because Luke has never tried to portray himself as something that he is not to the media to create a false persona.

That is what i hear from so many of JBJ's detractors: "he's fake"

That's my observation.

I think its because Jones rubs people the wrong way. its just how it is, when he is being honest and truthful it comes across as arrogant and full of self praise. when its guys like Connor McIrish, most people can see its a act to get attention, but Jones is genuine in his arrogance. he doesnt do it on purpose, he does it naturally, add that with his INSANE talent and how he destroyed many peoples favorite fighters.....and you get haters everywhere

I think Luke did a great job, but he is not nearly as cocky and full of himself (which he is but not like Jones) he has a perfect body type for 185. as does Jones for 205. they can cut weight while having it not effect there performance in any way. their size is a great advantage, but its nothing they should be slagged down for. getting mad at someone for being larger but the same weight is petty and telling of the kind of fan / person the guy is.

When you are the best people will look for any reason to bring you down. With Fedor it was he fought a couple mismatches. With Anderson he was in a week division and with Jones he cuts to much weight for his competition. If Luke wins the championship he will be to big for middleweight in a year or two.

I've also seen rumblings of Luke hate already. "He's a rich entitled douchebag" sticks out in my mind.

Point is, some people are like crabs in a bucket. They'd rather pull you down with them than let you escape. Fuck 'em!

I think t's the reach advantage Jones enjoys more than the actual size

Rockhold is huge for the division tho. If he keeps dominating people the way Jones has, they will start whining about his size too. Always something to cry about lol

Jones is THE dominant athlete in his sport. Lots of people hate the Yankees, the Patriots, the Cowboys, the Lakers, the Celtics, etc. Whenever great success occurs, there is always hatred of that success. It might have something to do with peoples favorites losing consistently to the dominant team/fighter, or just the natural tendency to root for the underdog. Whatever the reason, it something that transcends all sports, and will continue as long as there are so-called "dynasties." JBJ should enjoy his run as the latest GOAT, because, as the Romans said, "All fame is fleeting!"

I always laugh when I hear somebody try to insult anotger by saying they grew up good or whatever. I'd fucking LOVE it if one season of TUF there was a nice optimistic guy who had a good family and upbringing. He'd go into those one on one confessionals and just smile and say how he so fortunant to have amazing support from all his friends and family and if things don't work out then he's got a great education and job waiting for him :) Maybe even show a pic of his bombshell wife. As long as it was done without being arrogent it would be nice instead of the same old sob stories and you don't know my struggle talks.

This explains all my haters on this forum.

Speed was the other anti-Fedor mantra. Supposedly he was so much faster than everyone else at HW, nobody had a chance.

Every body type has its downsides, too. Nobody mentions those though. I mean, I think it's better, all things considered, to be on the tall side and to have a good reach. But lots of supposedly optimally-built fighters have gone nowhere, or have had at best so-so careers. Intelligence and skill still matters the most, IMO.
