“It makes it harder for ‘DC’ to sell that he’s not at least nervous,” Jones told MMAjunkie. “‘DC’ can say, ‘I’m not scared. I’m not nervous.’ But when you offer to pay and fly Ovince Saint Preux out to train him to beat me, it’s just – he showed his true colors. He showed he is nervous and that if Ovince Saint Preux were to win, it would be the greatest day of his life.”

While Jones, No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA light-heavyweight rankings, engaged No. 2-ranked Cormier on Twitter, and is likely to do so again in the future, he said that shouldn’t be taken as a sign he’s distracted from the task at hand. No. 8-ranked Saint Preux might be the lowest-ranked opponent Jones has faced in years, but that doesn’t mean victory is guaranteed, he said.

“I’m going to give him the respect he deserves, which is my full and undivided attention,” Jones said. “I know that sounds a little funny after my rant with ‘DC,’ but ‘DC,’ he doesn’t have my respect. So many of my fans tell me, ‘Jon, don’t argue with ‘DC.’ It’s just a strategy so you’re not focusing on Ovince Saint Preux.’ But literally I just deal with ‘DC’ on Twitter for a second then my whole day is about Ovince. He has my full and undivided attention.”

DC would love it, but it might be the most disturbing thing mentally for DC as he would likely never get to avenge his loss to Jones........so, basically DC is sending a message that he wants someone else to beat the guy he can't and won't ever beat.......he should be rooting for Jones IMO

DC is not thinking clearly. He seems angry though. We cannot know the full extent of his frustration but it seems he is under duress.

I can imagine that he is itching to avenge his loss, frustrated that Jon's claims to the belt are somewhat legitimate, and frustrated by his injury and subsequent delay of his ability to avenge that loss.

This is speculation, of course, but it stands to reason those things would have a negative effect and from the Twitter blow up the other day, it seems to be accurate to at least some degree.

Yeah thats a head scratcher for sure. Why wouldn't he want to rematch Jones, possibly avenge his loss, will be a payday fight. A fight with OSP gets DC neither. I believe DC thinks Jones doesn't deserve the title because in DC's mind Jones is a bad person, and DC would rather anyone else have it. To me DC has so much hatred and animosity towards Jones he doesn't even want to show an inch of encouragement his way, so by saying he is rooting for OSP I believe he feels like he is publicly displaying his distaste for Jones as a person and as a fighter.

Just my 2 cents on the matter but no one really knows whats going on in DC's mind.

Thinking back on this, maybe DC should root for osp, this way he can call his loss to Jones a fluke and not have to fight Jones again and mentally, this won't haunt him for the rest of his life.........he can think he had a bad night against Jones but can also optimistically think Jones wasn't that good and dc can then live in bliss......instead of the psycho ward.......why else would you desperately offer to pay for an entire camp of not only your guys but flights/accommodation/meals, etc for some guys from Tennessee?

i agree with your post but just saying, any fight DC is involved in is a payday fight. he gets paid to fight! lol just felt like i had to say this, even if saying it is as annoying as "grammar nazi's" correcting spelling

I see where you are coming from, im not a writer and will be the first to admit i probably misspell , fragment sentences and run on more than anyone. Let me try to clarify what i was saying , what i meant was a fight with Jon Jones would be a bigger payday fight and would earn him more money than a fight against OSP.

I really love the Jones/Cormier feud. It's as close as this sport has gotten to Ali/Frazier.

Gustafsson meanwhile is stuck playing Ken Norton and AJ is Foreman. The question is will OSP be Leon Spinks or Jean Pierre Coopman.

Contrary to what many believe, I don't feel DC is "scared" of a rematch with Jones. Sure, he is tired of all the drama. It must be frustrating to get injured after all of the buildup to this fight. Quite sure DC's heart is on fire. If anything, at least we get to see what effects the layoff has had on Jones.
