Number five-ranked Jorge Masvidal is currently on a three-fight winning streak, and is coming off an impressive second round knockout victory against Donald Cerrone at UFC Denver last January. He will be facing top contender Demian Maia this weekend at UFC 211, a fight that holds major title implications.

If he does end up beating Maia, “Gamebred” believes he deserves the next shot at Tyron Woodley’s title. But at the same time, he is expecting the worst situation to come about.

“All I know is if I could God willing get through Maia, and I don’t get a title shot, this sport took a drastic turn for the worst,” Masvidal told…

He's right, for sure.
I think with this bisping change of opponent to the rightful opponent, if true, may see them start to listen and fight based on merit as opposed to what Jimmy Johnny susie and Mrs and Mrs doe want to watch.
However, we need to remember that the correct fight will not get them their 4.2 bill which tells me that Jorge is correct and this will be the long term view of the imf

I think the UFC is going to realize that ignoring the merit is not the best way to make that money back. It will provide them with a few big nuts that they wouldn't have had otherwise, but with the fighter displeasure and the stinker cards they've put together recently it's not going to pay off in the long run.

And I think that fact is why they may have to comply a bit. The Fertittas had more freedom, and they didn't take out billions in loans to pay for the thing. WME-IMG is a slave to its own debt, and once they see their tactics not going over well AND not making them money, they will be forced to adjust.

I think this will lead to Dana getting more power as he used to have. Dana isn't a saint by any measure, and he's a dishonest guy in the public but I personally believe him to be better for the fighters and the sport than the WME guys who are running this behind the scenes. All accounts that I have heard say that Dana doesn't have the pull that he used to have. I anticipate that either changing completely, or we see things slowly start to work the way they used to, which wasn't optimal but it was certainly better than it is today.
