As much as he doesn't like it, Jose Aldo admitted it hurt when he was knocked out by Conor McGregor after having to hear him taunt and trash talk for almost one whole year in 2015. During a press conference in Rio de Janeiro, the former UFC featherweight champion went on to say he wouldn't have a problem losing to Frankie Edgar or Chad Mendes.

"That was the thing that hurt he most, for sure." he told Combate. "Everyone who knows me, my family, my friends at the gym, they knew that I always said I would lose one day and I would accept my defeat, but not to that guy, because of the proportion things took. It hurt more because of that. I could have lost to Frankie Edgar or Chad Mendes who I fought really hard against, or any other athlete, really. I was disappointed in myself, I couldn't lose that day."

Even though he admits how much of a disappointment the loss was, Aldo remains confident he will have another chance to face McGregor in the future and win.

"I have one thing in my mind. He'll be here a while and I work for the UFC, we have a contract. The world will keep turning and sooner or later he will be in front of me again and then I'll run over him."

He's probably gonna have to learn to deal with it. The way they'd never give Cub another shot at him I could see them never giving Aldo another shot at Conor

Yeah I don't think Conor's returning to 145 if he beats RDA tbh.

As an Aldo fan, what pissed me off the most was that e basically handed Conor his best chance at winning on a silver plater. I wouldn't have been as hurt if Aldo fought to his obvious strengths and lost, but coming in feinting hard then dropping his right only to get counted by Conor's signature shot really devastated me.

People may bash Alvarez for the way he fought pettis, but u play to your strengths/ your opponents weaknesses. Alvarez did what he had to

He still doesn't get it. It wasn't personal. It was strategic, and even in that sense wasn't personal beyond figuring out how to get a stoic, disciplined guy to become easier to predict and get him to make a mistake.

For Connor, fucking with him mentally was, because of Aldo's ability, just part of touching all the bases with the tools in hand.

If you crop this picture from Conor's head and to the left, it is almost touching..like the prince finding the sleeping beauty..or maybe Romeo and Juliet

Oh true apothecary, thy drugs are quick.

Thus with a kiss, I die.

Conor got in his head. When a guy talks that amount of shit, he ups the ante. Conor yelled "all in" and threw all his chips to the middle of the table and forced Aldo to do the same. And when that happens, one guy wins big and the other guy loses big. Unfortunately for Aldo, you can't lose any bigger than getting KO'd in 13 seconds so no doubt it's a tough pill for him to swallow.

It always sucks to lose in MMA but you get that extra chill when the big stars like McGregor and Rousey step in there, because there's so much at stake.

I'd like to see them fight again. Like Aldo said, he was always going to lose. Unless you duck the tough fights, which is nearly impossible in the UFC, everybody loses. I think that what made this so hard on him was how he lost. He got embarrassed with a one punch knock out. I hate the term "lucky punch", but those type of one punch knockouts are pretty rare at the championship level, so I'd like to see it again. I was excited to see a technical battle, but I got Aldo's chin finally giving in at the worst possible time. I still think they'd put on a hell of a fighting a rematch.

Ye Jose whatever! Nothing he said say's his head is anywhere near where it needs to be. He'd get smoked again easy, cause his ability isn't there either, deal with it.

Yeah the term lucky punch is stupid, but even if it was acceptable this fight would be the last place anyone should use it.

You'd be hard pressed to find a better example of expert counter punching. Conor saw a little opening, a mistake by Aldo and he made him pay for it.

all in all Aldo is not dealing too bad with it. he wants the rematch but is not obsessing over Conor and just doesn't want to spell it out that he rushed in.

he also said he hasn't seen a dime from ufc 194 yet.

Hey man. As our resident Brazilian, how is RDA viewed in Brazil?
