Desperate times...I read an article about the fear-mongering coming out of Hollywood.
It's sad that they feel the need to manipulate and coerce people.
Was it on Breitbart?I read an article about the fear-mongering coming out of Hollywood.
It's sad that they feel the need to manipulate and coerce people.
Trump has threatened free press, threatened to jail his political opponent if he wins, joked about why there is even an election in the first place, threatened to deport 11mil people, and supports waterboarding and other forms of torture. I don't think it is fear mongering to voice your opinion that you are scared for your democracy if he wins. That's a legitimate concern at that point.
Can you explain how any of your tenuous "facts" have any relation to a fear for our democracy if he wins?

Fear mongering - WikipediaFear mongering or scaremongering is the deliberate use of fear based tactics including exaggeration and usually repetition to influence the public in order to achieve a desired outcome
Donald Trump renews support for waterboarding at Ohio rally: 'I like it a lot'“What do you think about waterboarding?” Trump asked the crowd. They cheered as he gave his answer: “I like it a lot. I don’t think it’s tough enough.”
Donald Trump wants to deport 11 million migrants: is that even possible?A central plank of Trump’s immigration plan calls for deporting the estimated 11 million undocumented migrants currently living in the United States, and then repatriating the “good ones” back to the US again. After regaining entry to the news conference, Ramos asked Trump how that would work.
“How are you going to deport 11 million people?” Ramos said. “By train, by bus? Are you going to bring the army?”
Trump replied that the process would be “very humane” and that it would work because he was “a great manager”.
Donald Trump as president 'would be a threat to press freedom''Since the beginning of his candidacy, Trump has insulted and vilified the press and has made his opposition to the media a centrepiece of his campaign. Trump has routinely labelled the press as ‘dishonest’ and ‘scum’ and singled out individual news organisations and journalists.'
Donald Trump threatens to jail Hillary Clinton in second presidential debateClinton said it was “awfully good” that someone with the temperament of Trump was not in charge of the law in the country, provoking another Trump jab: “Because you’d be in jail.”
I understand people don't like Trump and have legit issues with his campaign, but this was one of the real dumb ones.threatened to jail his political opponent if he wins
It's not the place of a candidate to say whether someone should be in jail or not. That's for the courts. Also if other parties believe the winner will potentially jail their opponent, which is what he is threatening, at the time the investigation had been closed, then they have reason to not hold to the results of an election. That's when coups happen and open warfare happens. By threatening it he is attacking the fabric of democracy and if it rips it can be hard to get it back.I understand people don't like Trump and have legit issues with his campaign, but this was one of the real dumb ones.
It was obvious Trump was referencing the email scandals, but libs took it as "OH TRUMP WANTS TO THROW ALL HIS OPPONENTS IN JAIL FOR NO REASON WITHOUT A TRIAL LIKE HITLER OMG"
Pretty silly lol
Haha, there you go with your fear-mongeringIt's not the place of a candidate to say whether someone should be in jail or not. That's for the courts. It wasn't a threat, it was a one-liner meant as a zinger. No logical mind could take that as a serious threat, everyone knew what he meant but they chose to try to spin it.It's not the place of a candidate to say whether someone should be in jail or not. Please, he uses intimidation tactics of threatening to sue the press many times for stories which are in the public interest. He's threatened the New York Times. Had a member of the press arrested while he was asking about access to his event. And blamed the New York bombings on the press. That was all in one week.Thank you for that additional definition of fear mongering, so I can better understand how you mean it. But I'm confused -- are you saying that this is not an exaggeration (“I’m fucking terrified,” said writer-director Adam McKay, via email. “If Trump were to win we will see a dismantling of our democracy we cannot imagine). Further, do you still maintain that behavior that I call fear mongering is not, in fact, fear mongering when it is a voicing of an opinion based on a legitimate concern? If so, can you explain why that is or show a definition that states something to that effect?
As for your "facts", I put it in quotations because it is not a fact that Trump has threatened free press on the basis of him insulting members of the press and a group opining that Trump is a threat to free press.
Even the American Bar Association calls him a libel bully in their own internal reports.“I will make sure that you and I meet one day while we’re in the courthouse. And I will take you for every penny you still don’t have. And I will come after your Daily Beast and everybody else that you possibly know,” Cohen said. “So I’m warning you, tread very fucking lightly, because what I’m going to do to you is going to be fucking disgusting. You understand me?”
“You write a story that has Mr. Trump’s name in it, with the word ‘rape,’ and I’m going to mess your life up… for as long as you’re on this frickin’ planet… you’re going to have judgments against you, so much money, you’ll never know how to get out from underneath it,” he added.
Oh, the 'it was just a joke defence' again. How trite. It wasn't a threat, it was a one-liner meant as a zinger. No logical mind could take that as a serious threat, everyone knew what he meant but they chose to try to spin it.
Like I said, I understand people hating Trump and I understand spinning things, but this was way too ridiculous a reach to not make fun of.
It's like when Trump said he could shoot somebody and not drop in popularity (or whatever he said), and people saying "IF DONALD TRUMP BECOMES PRESIDENT HE'S GOING TO GO OUT ON THE STREETS AND SHOOT PEOPLE".
So, his pursuing legal remedies within the widely-accepted legal doctrine of libel means he's a threat to free press? Please, he uses intimidation tactics of threatening to sue the press many times for stories which are in the public interest. He's threatened the New York Times. Had a member of the press arrested while he was asking about access to his event. And blamed the New York bombings on the press. That was all in one week.
Here is what his Lawyer sent to a reporter who did a story on when his wife accusing him of rape during a deposition - he settled with her for $100k.
Even the American Bar Association calls him a libel bully in their own internal reports.
Why Donald Trump Has Never Won a Libel CaseSo, his pursuing legal remedies within the widely-accepted legal doctrine of libel means he's a threat to free press?
There's a word that comes to mind for that. Hmm, exagg...
Honestly, do you believe that if Trump wins the election he's going to make efforts to throw Hillary in jail? What could he do to do that?Oh, the 'it was just a joke defence' again. How trite.
I guess it's just like the boy who cried wolf. Is it this time a joke? Or is it real?Honestly, do you believe that if Trump wins the election he's going to make efforts to throw Hillary in jail? What could he do to do that?
You HONESTLY believe that the meaning of Trump's quip was to say "listen Hillary, you better hope you win this election because if I get in, you're going to jail"? Come on dude.
Didn't answer my question....I guess it's just like the boy who cried wolf. Is it this time a joke? Or is it real?
