FOX Sports anchor, Karyn Bryant discusses the uphill battle that women in MMA face with on-camera reporting.

Being a member of the MMA media is a labor of love for most. The money isn't great unless you have a television gig or are a member of a very small group that covers news for larger sites. If you happen to be a female, there are defintely more issues at play. As a member of that latter group, I've always been grateful for the opportunities I've been blessed with over the last 11 years. That's not to say I've not had some bumps in the road, but I've definitely been more fortunate than most.

A large part of the reason why I've not experienced some of the problems that other women in the community have faced is due to my choice to stay "behind the curtain," so to speak. I've…

Great insights from Steph and Karyn. First part is all Stephanie though so I was confused when it said "behind the scenes."

I don't pay much attention to behind the scenes stuff, just based off her interviews and recap/preshow stuff, I can't get pass the feeling that she is faking it. What I mean is, I get the impression that she's covering MMA due to a lack of options not because it's a passion.

I could be totally off base, and she could be some long time mma reporter, but that's just my casual opinion when I'm watching the Fox stuff.

I'd rather see Mir or Stann just replace her all together

Sounds like she was talking about you in her interview.....

For the first--I don't know how many years it was, every interview would be [very affected imitation of male voice] ‘Oh I know what they did after that interview. They totally did it!' There was also the, ‘Who did she "F" to get that job? She probably brought her kneepads over there,' yada yada yada.-Karyn Bryant

ya she's been covering MMA for 8 year's...so she's been around long enough to have some clout even if this isn't her first love she's put the effort in.

Also Rampage has a humped her twice in interview's....so...there's that...

Double standard. She loves being treated like a girl. It's why her tits are always hanging out.

Is she supposed to bind them down and wear a baggy shirt?
Personally, I like when they hang out.

She uses those boobs for viewership and now she's complaining that it's harder for women to break into the field? Just seems a little hypocritical.

Makes me wanna be a fighter.

I'd love me some of that half-Jamaican reporter action.

I'd totally pose in GSP booty shorts for her while she spanked me.

I'm not sure if this is accurate. Let's look at it from another perspective:
Mma fighters have fought for peanuts while this sport was being legitimized (those were mostly men but that's not the point).
Now other people are able to make a living by being associated with mma. If she wasn't doing this job, someone else would do it equally well or better. To be more blunt about it, men don't get hired for being pretty, women do.

Men don't just talk about how hot reporters are. They talk about how hot ANY woman is. It's natural for a man, just how they are wired. Testosterone.

That's not to say it's all they care about any given topic, but it's going to come up, whether they say it or just think it.

Why would we have a forum discussion about how hot a dude reporter is? There are mostly only guys here and the few women left are, unfortunately, not interacting as much.

This is a silly article. I like Karyn and Stephanie, but this has less to do with their industry and more to do with biology.

You haven't made it in MMA journalism until you have been banned at least once by Dana White. So uhm...Dana? you know what to do next!

Overal, I think she's doing a good job. She doesn't bother me.

Whilst I appreciate it's difficult, is she a jounalist? I havent ever read any critical work she's written or heard any insightful monologues. She seems to be more of a host/interviewer. Does she write the autoprompt she reads or the script she follows? If she does fair play, but a journalist is someone who can put together a critical insightful piece of work that discusses or exposes a situation. Not someone who can read, speak or listen to an earpiece. A pundit is also not always a journalist, you have to have a critical opinion that has backing and the ability to debate it, some pundits can. Some cant.

I agree. She even says as much about her self in the article "I'm primarily, and always have been, an interviewer and presenter"

Meh fuck her. She has hair like mr perfect, i cant take anything she says serious.

As mentioned before i feel like she is just a person doing her job, i dont think she is a fan of mma, she just covers it because its her job to do so.

Never was a big fan of hers. Always had the feeling she knew nothing about the sport but needed work.

Obviously she knows more now but I still am mot big on her personality. A strange fit for the sport of fighting.

Best of luck to her though. Hopefully she keeps getting better.

I think the flaw in your line of thinking here is that she wears stuff like that "for" something. Every time a woman has some skin showing it isn't because she is using it for something. She might just like the shirt. It's not like she said "I'm gonna wear this and it's gonna make me a more popular reporter". You interpreting her showing skin as her using her femininity as a way to get into reporting is just the issue that she is addressing here.

To simplify, she says that things are harder for women because even when she wears a shirt with a moderate amount of cleavage people on the internet say that she is using sexuality to further her career.
