It appears that the UFC is shopping around for potential opponents to welcome Georges St-Pierre back into the Octagon.

According to UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov, the UFC recently got in touch with him to gauge whether he would be interested in a match-up against the former welterweight champion in the main event of the landmark UFC 200 event.

"Yesterday the UFC called me with a proposal to hold the main bout of the evening against Nate Diaz, or against Georges St-Pierre," Khabib said during a live interview on Match TV. "They hope that I will take the fight. But it is four days after the month of Ramadan, and it would be hard physically to fight five rounds. I'll be back in September and October."

If it's come to this, I guess we won't be seeing GSP vs. Lawler or Condit.

I think he would beat all 3, Conor, Diaz and GSP. Maybe not at the same time but it would still be close.

This is why GSP was never the GOAT for me.

Imo Jones will not wear that crown until he can clean out the HW division. A feat some short fat Russian was able to accomplish for 10 years without losing a single round.

Gsp does have a record of fighting lws. But it'd be interesting to see how the wrestling played out between the two.

Does the ufc think gsp would accept this fight? He wants the money fights, and Khabib is not that.

Agreed. The GSP fight is interesting though.

That said, he's already said he wont fight at UFC 200 due to Ramadan.

Fucking Ramadan damading dangadong!!

Another unholy letdown.

Wouldn't GSP have to wait 4 months after officially giving notice that he is unretired before fighting? Didn't Dana say if Connor retired and then returned later he would have to wait 4 months before fighting again due to USADA anti-doping policies?

I don't know all the in's and out's of the doping policy, so school me why GSP can return sooner than the 4 months.

"The UFC can waive this period in “exceptional circumstances” or where “strict application of the rule would be manifestly unfair” to the athlete..."

So, the rule is a rule until it's not a rule.

thanks for the info.
