Anyone remember this fight from when it happened? I didn't follow kickboxing much in the lighter weights, but I remember the hype surrounding this meeting.

That first one was such a mauling. Been awhile since I've seen those fights.
I didn't watch them when they happened but these K-1 MAX tournaments were what really got me into combat sports a few years later.
The first fight was a ridiculous, ubelievable robbery as not even Masato wanted to go an extra round and take another beating. That was also the fight that prompted K-1 to change its rules and limit the clinch to five seconds and one knee because Masato had some of his worst momentos getting beaten in the clinch.

BTW Buakaw fought today at Enfusion 63 in Abu Dhabi and the result was reminiscent of K-1's worst moments:
