Alright, so lets learn how to read a knee xray and then talk about it:
A - femur
B - outline of patella/patella (kneecap)
C - medial condyle
D - lateral condyle
E - medial plateau
F - lateral plateau
G - Tibia
H - Fibula
I - fabella
So how to read?
Glance at it. With time, the general shape of common anatomatical structures like bowel or joints 'looks normal'. Outcome? Generally normal knee.
The start working through in a systematic order to examine detail. You can see the quad muscles on either side of the femur. They are largely in place without significant distorition. Patella is in place Joint spacing between patella, femar, tibia, fibular are all intact and largely symmetric. Going back over same anatomy, bones are intact without obvious fracture. Going back again along edges, all intact without obvious fracture.
Outcome? Normal xray.
2 things stand out to me.
1.In the left pic, in the center of my knee where the cartlidge would be, there seems like a that group of jagged looking bone shouldn't look like that.
2. In the right pic, if you look on the left of the pic ( behind my knee ) you can see what looks like just a piece of bone floating there...any idea? I do have issues back there too.
1> Tibial spines. It;s normal. Your femur rests in the plateaus of the tibia
2> Fabella. Normal sesimoid bone.
