On Friday evening, reports emerged that popular UFC light-heavyweight Nikita Krylov was released from the UFC. The decision baffled fans and pundits alike, as the Ukrainian fighter held a 5-1 record in his last six fights and his only loss was to LHW prospect Misha Cirkunov.

According to Krylov, who spoke to MK’s Alexey Safonov following the announcement, he was not released from his current contract but simply opted not to re-sign with the UFC after his current contract was fulfilled.
