To me Dan Severn is in a similar situation.



  • 5th degree black belt in Judo
  • 2nd degree black belt in Jujutsu
  • 1st Razryad international master in Sambo

Who did Dan receive these from?

Yeah taking a fight with a world class boxer and ending the fight immediately without any damage incurred using textbook grappling technique is certainly hardly worthy of a black belt....

Your problem is that it's Randy Couture and everyone already knew he could do exactly that. The belt was an acknowledgement more than a reward for what Randy would obviously consider an unremarkable achievement.
