I mentioned above that this dates back to Lincoln’s lifetime. However, to be clear, I also don’t doubt that there’s a redoubling of efforts to drag any and everyone in history of whom there’s a scintilla of homo scandal out of the closet.

I think the most shocking thing I ever heard from a black dude when I was just becoming acquainted with their cultural mores (I actually went to segregated school as a child: I’m that old) was when one of them was talking about fucking an openly homo black dude (also shocking at the time: didn’t know any “out” white guys) and he averred that “If you fuck a punk don’t make you no punk.
