As an Aussie, the idea of a grown adult not being able to swim confidently is pretty much at the level of a grown adult not being able to ride a pushbike.

But then, everybody in Australia lives within easy reach of the ocean.

As a Floridian, I agree. Too many canals/lakes/beaches/backyard pools not to have the ability here. I've fallen into different bodies of water more than once when fishing, and in most instances the water went above my head.

But sadly, for historical reasons (black people not being admitted into community pools until the 1960s), there's a sharp racial disparity in the U.S. when it comes to the ability to swim.

Door and window seals are generally pretty good. They can keep water out from pressure washers. Cars will usually flood from the bottom up where there's gaps in the body work or fresh air vents.
