Man saves dog from freezing river in Vermont

A man named Chris MacRitchie and his family were out for breakfast when they saw that the poor pup had somehow managed to get into this chilly Vermont river, which was flowing quickly and had little to no options as far as finding leverage goes. The dog was trying to cling to the side, but he was really struggling - if MacRitchie hadn't gone in after him, there's a solid chance the dog never would've made it.

Really really cold water is nuts. Your brain kind of short circuits. For some people they can get it back together quickly and function. For others it's full on flight or flight panic time.

Oh yes indeed. I jumped into cold water once and my respiratory system literally froze, I couldn't breathe. It's crazy what a cold shock can do.
