Maradona was a true inspiration and role model to me.

His ability to consume massive quantities of A-grade cocaine and alcohol, and still make it to 60, is truly motivational.

I remember the Mexic 86 World Cup well. My dad would get me up on a school night to watch England then had to go back for a few hours sleep before school. Maradona, that fucking cheating cunt left me on the verge of tears. The crazy thing is, that handball elevated him to even crazier popularity in Argentina because of course they saw it as revenge to losing the Falklands war against the UK.

Apart from him being a cheating bastard, alcoholic, druggy and fat cunt, he was probably the most naturally talented person to have ever played. I view him in the same way as Gazza, brilliant but never achieved what was possible with their talents because of personal issues and injuries.

I'm not sure where I'd put him in the list of greats, but definitely below Ronaldo (Portugal), Messi and Pele. Although I do think he beats them all in raw natural ability.

Here's Lineker on Maradona -
