Mark Hunt calls out 'chicken' Fabricio Werdum for Perth fight, says heavyweight title still the goal
“Hopefully I get a fight in Perth – we’re waiting for Werdum to say yes, but he’s such a little chicken rat,” Hunt said.

“I’d like to be on the undercard for that world title fight for Rob Whittaker. That would be awesome being a part of history right there in Perth.”

Hunt was campaigning to fight Werdum in Sydney but the Brazilian refused, forcing the Super Samoan to agree to a bout with Marcin Tybura. When Hunt was ruled out of the fight, Werdum agreed on short notice to fight Tybura.

It’s a sore point for Hunt.

“I don’t know why Werdum doesn’t want to party,” he said.

“We asked to do Japan, we asked to do Sydney and he said no. Then the next minute gets the fight against Tybura.

“He said ‘no’ to me, but 'yes' to Tybura, the little rat.”

Hunt fought Werdum in a short notice interim title fight in Mexico City in 2014 when Cain Velasquez was ruled out with injury. After dropping 21kg, Hunt looked impressive in the first round, but lost a second round TKO courtesy of a Werdum flying knee.

“He knows he’ll get knocked out. That’s the only reason I can think why (he won’t fight again),” Hunt said.

“He got me in Mexico, but I sure as hell doubt it’ll go the same way the next time we fight.

“Three and a half weeks’ notice and 21 kilograms later … I was schooling that punk-ass too. He got lucky with that knee.”

With three fights remaining on his current UFC contract, Hunt says he is still eyeing up a run at the heavyweight title, currently held by Stipe Miocic.

“I don’t want to sit around forever. I need a top guy, I need to get back to work,” he said.

“This is my last shot at getting the strap.

“Hopefully they’ll give me someone in the top 10 – someone above me – and all I can see is that Werdum is the only one available. I don’t know what’s happening with Cain – he hasn’t fought in forever. Alistair (Overeem) is still looking for his soul somewhere after getting upper-cutted out of the universe, and Ngannou’s got the title shot.

“If I can get over Werdum, I should be next in line to fight the champ. I could be champ by next year.

“Now it’s just about getting Werdum to say yes.”

I'd really like to see hunto vs werdum 2. If hunts pissed off at him and has a full camp it will be great

I think Hunt mainly is angling toward getting on that Perth card. It's as close to a home town fight as he will probably get. He knows he is getting toward the end and he probably sees Werdum as his best available opponent.

Werdum ducked a rematch. Then accepted a short notice fight vs hunts opponent when hunt was pulled. He fears the hunto
Yea he doesn't want hunts teeth stuck in his knee again

Werdum beats Hunt 9/10 now. Werdum has nothing to gain fighting him again he has bigger fish to fry.

I think the only rematch Hunto should be looking for at this point is McCorkle.

(I still can't believe that goofy fucker tapped him out)

Champion : Stipe Miocic
1 Francis Ngannou
2 Alistair Overeem 3 Fabricio Werdum 4 Cain Velasquez 5 Mark Hunt

realistically, who else is there unless he wants to fight past top5 guys again. Reem is out for a bit. who knows when Cain is coming back. Stipe is fighting Ngannou. unless UFC is telling Werdum he gets winner of of those 2, which im sure he'd wait for, then Hunt vs Werdum is the fight to make.
werdum should be above AO right?...big fan of both FYI

and why is cain in there lol...one fight in last few years right?

your right though..hunt werdum 2 makes sense

looks like its Hunt vs #9 Blaydes. cool fight, but wont get hunt closer to the belt unless he wins in awalk off ko, and they decide to just put him ahead of Cain at #4. which it kinda should be already with Cain out so long anyway. either way Hunt needs to beat Blaydes and get a win over either Reem or Werdum, whom he lost ot both, to get that title shot. or maybe he gets loser of Stipe/Ngannou and a win over 1 of them can get him there possibly. also, even tho Reem just got ko'd, he did beat Werdum recently so should still be ahead of him for now.
