Matt Hardy: Relevant to the End?

Not many keep their character ever lasting, or time returns or revamps in character correctly.

I think an underdog in consideration is Matt Hardy. He gets wrestling. From Version 1 to ECW Heel Champion to Broken/Woken.

He stayed relevant, just as Chris Jericho is doing in NJPW. Will throw Ric Flair amongst those two, but I think its hard to argue that fact. Matt Hardy and Jericho have over took Flair in terms of longevity, but I believe as of right now, Hardy has overtaken Jericho.

Flair went hard for over 40 years! Think about that his career spanned longer then many pro wrestlers life spans.

Flair the Verne Gagne prodigy in the NWA days... he was on the road non stop during the 70’s 80’s even the 90’s with the WWF / WCW

Was the headliner for the WCW and WWF in the early 90’s then was basically the man in WCW during the ratings War of the 90’s.

Had a good run in TNA and went back to the WWE late in his career and managed to stay relevant.

His entire career he has been at the top of his game.

Compared to Hardy/Jerihico I don’t think it’s really comparable as Hardy has been around forever but has his ups and downs and disappeared for some time before rejuvenating his Career.


Jericho has had a solid career as well but I’ve never felt he has been a real main eventer ...he’s always been a great worker and a work horse but I personally don’t feel his body of work will stand the test of time like Ric Flairs

You look at Flair over Hardy and Jericho

Flair is an absolute legend who is the Gee Oh Ay Tee.

But when we are talking about characters that spanned the years, realistically we have to give Chris Jericho and Matt Hardy their dues

Flair was the man, he always was the man. But Hardy was some tag jobber, to the more balanced one, to the Version 1, to the Broken Brillance. Jericho was the cruiserweight, to the man of 1001 holds, to the Saviour Y2J, to 2008 Heel to the List to NJPW IC Champion.

I am not discrediting Flair as the best of all time, he is, but come 2003 Evolution, did we see him as the Nature Boy, or an act that got its deserved appreciation in 2008 when it was “you lose you retire.”
