"No, I did not negotiate a new contract. We were in negotiations for a little bit, I didn’t like where the offer ended up, they didn’t like my counter offer. So I said just resend my contract with the original numbers and I’m going to go ahead and fight it out and test out free agency after I win.”

“No I have not had any contact with them, that would be tampering, I have not had any contact with them. But, I know my value. I know where it’s at, I know where my position on the cards have always been. I know my record, I know what I can offer the organizations that I fight for due to my charisma, my character, my personality, my athletic background, my pedigree, all the above. Andy my fighting style, I know what I have to offer. So I know what I’m worth and I’ll get that. But I can tell you what I will not do ever again. I will never fight for less than what I’m worth again. I will not put my life, and or limb, on the line for less than what I’m worth. I’m really, really happy that Sage [Northcutt] and Paige [VanZant] both get paid forty and forty. That’s great, because all that’s going to do is bump up the bottom level market and that’s going to get guys like me, who have been around and are time-tested, we’re going to get paid accordingly.”

They do put this guy on a lot of main cards, in a lot of big fights, and win or lose he rarely disappoints.

So here are some of the heavies he could potentially be joining at Bellator.

So look at this list and imagine Mitrione, Kharitonov, Overeem and Fedor added to it. I've got wood....

The UFC is gonna have to suck it up and pay Overeem the big bucks.

No way they'll let Bellator take him.

People want Heavyweights. Meat Head is a legit Heavyweight. What is the problem? Pay the man dammit.

hardly shocking. Its been said over and over again. give it time; fighters will fight out their contracts and test the waters.. I honestly think this reebok deal is too much for many to take... im sure that is why bellator is clearing room. they are gunning for many ufc fighters who will test the waters soon.

You'd think with a thin heavey weight division, they'd treat them a little better. Good to know that Overeem actually did get paid very well. Matt Mittrione realizing his value is a good start for the division.

Agreed. Win or lose, I am watching Meathead fight. And he's right. He's got charisma and is exciting. Someone will pay him what he's worth.

I wonder if the UFC regrets paying Sage what they are paying him..?

His salary was mentioned by Aljamain and now Mitrione and I'm sure it's upsetting more than a few fighters who have been there longer but are making much less.

Him and Paige. They sort of set a precedent with those 40/40 contracts, and pissed a lot of fighters off in the process. They're either going to have to increase pay for the bottom 50% of the roster, or watch more and more fighters leave for free agency.

Good....
