I highly recommend Light and Magic if you haven't see it yet and grew up with star wars. The first several episodes are on the making of star wars with traditional methods and then the transition to CG, goes over the making of the Abyss, T2 and Jurassic Park and creation of Pixar.

Even if you are a tech nerd but hate star wars you will enjoy it.
