interesting note:

it is referenced in the above book - The Last Circle. Seymour believes it was being used a poison pill of sorts, something to discredit the rest of her work if/when she started pushing it.

When Cheri was at Robert Booth Nichols' place, she viewed a version of the Zapruder film which showed the driver shooting at Kennedy. he claimed it was the uncut version (pg 179)...Cheri's husband also viewed the video.

In later talking with Dick Russel (the Man who Knew to Much), it was believed she was shown this version as it provided Nichols with "deniability", having her see this version would of had the effect of invalidating her research of everything else...(Pg 192).

Fantastic post!

Also just remembered ....after reading your thread/post on the og a year or two ago you hand mentioned the book October Surprise so I had went out and gave it a read ...love your material Daglord @Daglord

I think adding the JFK stuff to this causes it to get a bit muddled because there are so many theories out there about it that it almost always gets poisoned once you fall down the rabbit hole. The JFK assassination is the big prize everyone wants to be right about so the theories range from secret teams to the CIA to Hoover to the mob to LBJ to Cuba to all of them together etc. With so much noise around "the truth," whatever it is, tidy explanations become convenient.

In the case of Iran/Contra and its tentacles, we have multiple sources of confirmation at this point from a combination of investigative journalism, historical and political science research, FOIAed government documents to interviews with people in the administration by Congress and elsewhere. That's not to privilege the so called official record, but again, I believe the goal of this type of inquiry should be falsification, that is, to try to prove your hypotheses wrong over and over again until they stand up to testing.

Something to remember about Bush Sr. Is that even though he was with the agency, most accounts of his time there suggest he wasn't viewed as "with" the agency. He was largely a Washington guy who was tied into the Texas money and who many of the insiders involved in other verified operations regarded as someone mostly trying to pad his resume. His tenure at the CIA was during a transitional period when they were meant to be cleaning up after a series of disastrous revelations and he was seen by the agency as a safe enough pick that wouldn't interfere much. He was only director for about a year in any case.

As for his son, much of his administration came from a very different wing of the Republican party that HW himself wasn't even a part of and didn't much care for. While the oil ties certainly stayed intact, the CIA wasn't crazy about how much light the activist neocons were bringing to their operations and Tenet obviously is now on record as having felt like after 9/11 they were co-opted by ideologues that didn't see the post-Cold War order they were trying to maintain. This is why many 9/11 conspiracies are also noisy and unpersuasive because many in the intelligence services regarded the whole thing as a major annoyance that reshuffled so many decks, caused administrative upheaval and interrupted plenty of personal projects. On the upside it opened up massive troves of spending and new legal powers the spooks had long craved, but the new bureaucracy that came with it had a lot of their own demands.

Oddly, it's under Trump, the guy who ran on swamp draining, that many of the old heads have found their way back into the action, likely because they saw an opening since he knew so little about government and they pounced.

Anyway, a lot of good stuff in this thread whose premises are worth looking into.

I have always figured Bush Sr. to be with the agency, even moreso than we were led to believe.

from Zapata itself being started by both him & Devine as a "commercial cover" for CIA activities, to "Mr. George Bush of the CIA" calling in his suspicions of James Parrot in 63, then his being named director without (allegedly) having any previous experience.

interesting note: Reagan/Bush campaign posters were littering the CIA halls in an unprecedented display during the 80 election, torn in half to only show "Bush".

you guys might dig this, Mae Brussell on Bush & the Reagan Assassination attempt:

Analysis of the assassination attempt. Interconnecting links. E.B. Williams, CIA top attorney, hired for John W. Hinckley Jr.
* Hinckley/Bush family connections. reported dinner meeting that night between the brothers of both Hinckley & Bush. Hinckley big donors to Bush campaign when running against Reagan. Hinckley family business under DOJ scrutiny at the time of shooting. both Neil (the dinner date) & George Bush initially lied about knowing the family, Neil's wife later admitted to Hinckley's brother having been to their house.

* Hinckley's trial was presided over by Judge Barrington Parker - Bush's first appointment as a federal judge & notoriously known as "CIA friendly".

* Hinckley's attorney was EB Williams, also a "CIA friendly" lawyer who had defended CIA director Richard Helms just a few years earlier absolving them of any responsibility for the assassination of Orlando Leterlier.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/arch...5e0-a838-8feb4200fbb9/?utm_term=.9dd41124c502
Former Central Intelligence Agency director Richard M. Helms was fined $2,000 and given a suspended sentence of two years in jail yesterday by a federal judge who said Helms considered himself above the law when he failed to tell a congressional committee about CIA operations in Chile.

"You now stand before this court in disgrace and shame," District Judge Barrington D. Parker told Helms at one point during a severe tongue-lashing he delivered to the former CIA chief before freeing him.

Helms' attorney, Edward Bennett Williams, had just asked the judge for leniency, saying that the ex-CIA chief would bear "the scar of a conviction for the rest of his days."

* Gov Clements, from TX, criticized the media for digging too far into the Hinckley family stating it could "ruin Texas". He was also one of Bush's first appointments to his new 'Crisis Management team' overseeing the investigation. the same crisis team that declared "no conspiracy" within hours of the shooting.

* Hinckley was reported to have discussed a grand conspiracy to assassinate Reagan in papers that were seized after a raid of his cell. when released he was barred from talking to the media & followed by SS recording his every move.

HINCKLEY REPORTED TO DISCUSS 'CONSPIRACY' IN SEIZED PAPERS

* before the shooting, it was reported than Hinckley went to the same donut shop outside his hotel & waited for a phone call on a payphone every day - even though he had a phone in his room. the nature of the calls was never known.

she had called it 11 days earlier, but fingered Haig instead of Bush.

Originally broadcast March 28, 1981.

"Time for shoot-out at White House. Coup or war, which one? Necessary at this time to cover too many things coming apart!!! Who will be behind it? The team, HAIG, update Wells Fargo"

The Iran--Contra affair, also referred to as Irangate, Contragate or the Iran--Contra scandal, was a political scandal in the United States that came to light in November 1986. During the Reagan administration, senior administration officials secretly facilitated the sale of arms to Iran, the subject of an arms embargo. Some U.S. officials also hoped that the arms sales would secure the release of several hostages and allow U.S. intelligence agencies to fund the Nicaraguan Contras. Under the Boland Amendment, further funding of the Contras by the government had been prohibited by Congress.

The scandal began as an operation to free the seven American hostages being held in Lebanon by a group with Iranian ties connected to the Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution. It was planned that Israel would ship weapons to Iran, and then the United States would resupply Israel and receive the Israeli payment. The Iranian recipients promised to do everything in their power to achieve the release of the U.S. hostages. The plan deteriorated into an arms-for-hostages scheme, in which members of the executive branch sold weapons to Iran in exchange for the release of the American hostages. Large modifications to the plan were devised by Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North of the National Security Council in late 1985, in which a portion of the proceeds from the weapon sales was diverted to fund anti-Sandinista and anti-communist rebels, or Contras, in Nicaragua.

While President Ronald Reagan was a supporter of the Contra cause, the evidence is disputed as to whether he authorized the diversion of the money raised by the Iranian arms sales to the Contras. Handwritten notes taken by Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger on December 7, 1985, indicate that Reagan was aware of potential hostage transfers with Iran, as well as the sale of Hawk and TOW missiles to "moderate elements" within that country. Weinberger wrote that Reagan said "he could answer to charges of illegality but couldn't answer to the charge that 'big strong President Reagan passed up a chance to free the hostages'". After the weapon sales were revealed in November 1986, Reagan appeared on national television and stated that the weapons transfers had indeed occurred, but that the United States did not trade arms for hostages. The investigation was impeded when large volumes of documents relating to the scandal were destroyed or withheld from investigators by Reagan administration officials. On March 4, 1987, Reagan returned to the airwaves in a nationally televised address, taking full responsibility for any actions that he was unaware of, and admitting that "what began as a strategic opening to Iran deteriorated, in its implementation, into trading arms for hostages".

Several investigations ensued, including those by the U.S. Congress and the three-person, Reagan-appointed Tower Commission. Neither found any evidence that President Reagan himself knew of the extent of the multiple programs. Ultimately the sale of weapons to Iran was not deemed a criminal offense but charges were brought against five individuals for their support of the Contras. Those charges, however, were later dropped because the administration refused to declassify certain documents. The indicted conspirators faced various lesser charges instead. In the end, fourteen administration officials were indicted, including then-Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger. Eleven convictions resulted, some of which were vacated on appeal. The rest of those indicted or convicted were all pardoned in the final days of the presidency of George H. W. Bush, who had been vice-president at the time of the affair.

Lol, I had no idea they also made Elliot Abrams special envoy for Iran, but talk about the fox guarding the henhouse. I'm very curious whether in a few months we'll learn about some of the money being sent to Guaidó down in Venezuela coming from new deals involving Iran.

Interesting read and well put together, but what is the conspiracy supposed to be?

This really seems like a series of unrelated events, that involved people with vague connections to one another.
