Yesterday, Miller spoke with Chael Sonnen about, among other things, missing weight. At first, Miller tried to deflect the question with his trademark sense of humor but eventually he blamed the failure to a simple mistake on his part.
"Like I said, I'm Mayhem. If I'm gonna go I'm gonna go big. I do everything large and in charge. [Laughing]...
The truth is it happened pretty much the day of [the weigh-in]. The jet lag is one thing I forgot to take into account. Let me just tell the fighters out there in the world, if you're ever having some jet lag issues and you're trying to make weight and you're within about seven pounds of the weight, do not buy a bunch of liters of water and leave them by your bed because you too will step on the scale grossly overweight...
I was pretty light. I was like ‘alright, we're gonna do this!' But yeah the jet lag and I bought a bunch of liters of water and when I woke up the next day they were all gone and I was like 'what the fuck did I do? I'm fucked. I just fucked myself'... I feel terrible about it but the truth is it's been four damn years since I ever had to make weight so I'm not surprised."
Miller also talked about UFC 146 and the backstage incident that got him fired. Though he had previously attributed the incident to a disagreement about his walk out entrance, Miller says the problem was really about his actions backstage.
"I'll tell you what happened. After I lost the damn fight, I went in there and asked for a damn shot of whiskey. The lady said, ‘this is not a bar!' and apparently that was Dana White's personal bar tender. So I walked off and was like, ‘ah geez what a c*nt' and she heard me and told on me like we're in the fucking fourth grade!
That's all that happened and they act like I went and burned the God damn building down. That seems to be the tendency when it comes to me. Everyone gets all bent out of shape and damn shits their pants."
But Miller says he intends to put those antics and that part of his life behind him and, despite the loss, is upbeat about his return.
"It didn't work out for me that night but that happens. It's the business. I'm just happy that I'm gonna get back in there again because as soon as I can I'm looking for another fight. I'm putting the call out there. Somebody come at me with a contract and I'll fight again.
I really cleaned up my act and got serious about life again. I just was taking Mayhem to the far extremes, the far reaches of depravity and now I'm back here into the normal human world."
