Mods, now that Floyd has said faggot, is it ok that I call everyone in this thread, especially myself, a faggot?

Seriously, there are faggots in here actually scoring who 'won' press conferences. That should be the new definition of faggot.

But if you fags have a problem with me calling everyone in here a faggot, I won't.

I like how the only variation it didn't autocorrect, is the one directly addressed to the mods.

It's fun. It must be boring to be SO COOL.

I don't know guys, I think this London promo is next level. For those of you who missed it, check this out---Conor told Floyd to shut up...and then---without missing a beat---Floyd told HIM to shut up!!!!

I blame the boxing press conference format.

All of the wandering around and talking in circles. Conor added a little new material each day but not always good material. Floyd basically said the same 5 things over and over and over each day.

Having a Q&A would have been much better for getting some fun answers and banter going. Otherwise they needed to space the 4 out so they could at least come up with a better script.

If this presser was judged on intelligence, everyone loses since it was so lowbrow. If it was judged on crowd reaction, Conor wins. If it was judged on ruffling the feathers of the opponent mayweather wins.

All in all, the fans lose since this "world tour" sucked a fat dick.

yeah he 'touched' floyd
With hotheads, this turns bad quickly. That is why dana got nervous. Mayweather is a professional so this is nothing to him, since it's just business. Notice mayweathers reaction to it? Nothing. Yet every time mayweather walks in back of mcgregor, Conor is like a schizophrenic thinking payback is about to happen, and he wants to get ready to jump up and fight (over nothing, getting fined, and all for something that he initiated). If you saw the movie Colors, the joke about the old bull and the young bull seems to correlate to these two fighters.

Btw, I think mayweather's "YEAAAAAAAH" to no reaction comments is catchy as fuck. I think every time I tell a bad joke from here on out I will use that.

they are both selling but Conor can always play "I can really kick your ass" angle all day. I mean, do you think Conor is scared of Floyd, even if he's losing a boxing match? I'm pretty sure Floyd is terrified if Conor will just snap and break his neck.

Oh it's good for all occasions. Funerals, for instance, when everybody's just silently reflecting---you break out that "YEAAAAH" as you start dancing around and bobbing your head, peeling off dollar bills from a wad. Add Cosby sweater and gold chains to keep it even realler.

Hey, nobody should be happy about getting embarrassed, let alone knocked out. Let's be real about this, it is boxing, nothing but boxing. If this were mma, it would be completely different, but it's not. Floyd is anything but terrified. This is the easiest payday (and largest) Floyd has ever had.

If anything happened in the press conference, floyd would literally have tens of millions more. You think that would make him sad? Lol

Good points. It seems to me at this point that there really was no good way to promote this charade. Even a sit-down interview would have been infected with circus rhetoric, the more I think about it. I mean, it's not a legitimate boxing match from a competitive point of view, and everybody knows it. No promotional strategy can hide this.

This is pretty much a throwback to the strongman circus tent kind of show, or even like the early UFC's but in reverse, in the sense that it's answering a "What if a UFC champion fought a boxing champion in boxing"---except that nobody has asked the question. It's just 21st century sports spectacle-porn, like a combat version of a Kardashian reality show.

I'll watch it (at a local river) because it's there...disappointed because all this does is interrupt one of the best runs in MMA in a long time, preventing us from seeing a legitimate MMA fight between Conor and a top contender at 155 (or even 170), and possibly even end the career of Conor before he can try to become undisputed GOAT.

I totally agree, but at the same time can understand the money grab aspect. Conor has so much to prove in his own sport, that this fight is just ridiculous, but money paramounts that, since that is the point of prize fighting. In this fight alone he will make far more than an entire career. That hopefully will be a good thing for all other mma fighters moving forward in boosting their salaries.

nothing but boxing? uh.. 50% of people involved are MMA, Fighter, Organization, Fans and everyone involved with Conor. So MMA personalities, MMA attitude, MMA way of everything is still here, like if brawl were to break out between two sides, All the MMA fighters on Conor side will jump in. Conor is an MMA fighter and we all know he can whip Floyd's ass with ease in a street fight and Floyd doesn't have those luxury thoughts.

If any other boxers did that to Floyd, Floyd will retaliate. Conor keeps touching Floyd, Floyd doesn't do shit. Imagine, if Floyd touched Conor like that. You're saying Floyd is taking the high road because that's how he normally is?

Conor will play every advantage he has, especially the luxury of being an MMA fighter and I'm not denying that this might be the only advantage Conor has over Floyd, counting the actual fight. Conor will expose that aspect to get into Floyd's head and Floyd can't do anything but just take it. Floyd is scurred, not for the boxing match but he's terrified of Conor.

I doubt any side will be losing tens of millions for some press conference scuffle, plus if the situation were that drastic, there will be no fight then everyone will be losing money. Everyone will do everything for that to not happen. Contract signed, limits are set. Conor talking shit to Espinoza cuz wha't he gonna do? honestly, Scrap the fight? LOL

Lol, keep to that minset. You are watching a seasoned vet vs a hothead with no experience on a true big stage. Mayweather is getting his pay, his ppv points, and the promotion money. He is happy as shit, and the more intelligent of the two when it comes to words exchanged and letting it get to them. You see floyd getting upset at conor? Lol. He loves this. Conor on the other hand seems to be rattled and taking things personally. At the end of the day, both fighters win, but the big winner is mayweather.

And the showtime guy? Lol. All conor is doing is burning bridges with showtime. While he is a slave to Zuffa that doesn't matter, but in the future it just might.

Keep in the back of your head conor's fighting ability in the ufc. After getting trashed by mayweather, he may consider saving face by fighting mma again. You like his chances against the eagle?

Yeah, I'm not blaming Conor for taking the chance of a lifetime. And it's not like it was a gift that fell from the sky anyway---he created the opportunity pretty much from scratch. However big a fan any of us were from the beginning, not one of us could have predicted that he'd fight Floyd Mayweather for ten zillion dollars 4 years into his career.

I don't blame any fighter, ever, doing what they think is best for their career. It's their livelihood on the line. There are no blanket gameplans or strategies that work on the career management level. One fighter might be better off pulling out of a fight that another one would be advised to take. Conor's ultra-risky strategy (fighting replacements on short notice, and general willingness to do whatever the UFC wanted, combined with aggressive contract negotiating) has been tried before by others, but they either haven't been able to win the necessary fights, generate enough fan interest, or negotiate properly for their value. Even when fighters like Nunes pull out on fight night, or guys like DJ refuse to take fights the UFC and the fans appear to want, I can't really hold it against them. MMA is the dodgiest career of all time. In no other sport does your value so consistently depend on a single performance, and in no other promotion is that so insanely true as it is in the UFC.

Nonetheless, I speak from a sport purist's perspective most of the time, and with scenarios in mind that would be most pleasing to *me*. I absolutely hate the randomness of the UFC, and this fight spectacle between Floyd and Conor in a lot of ways represents their philosophical approach to the sport. But I absolutely admire Conor's ability to have pulled this off---it's right out of some comic book "What If" world---and I've always been awestruck by Mayweather's ability to escape the clutches of the dirty crook promoters in the boxing world and put himself in the driver's seat of his own career.

What we should all be hoping for is that there are no shenanigans. I'm cool with whatever result happens, but Vegas + megafight usually automatically means something shady is afoot. I just want a legitimate bout with each guy trying the best of his ability, no stupid fouls or bad ref calls, and a clear-cut result. It's a tall order though. There's got to be enormous temptation to set up a second and even third bout in a back room somewhere.

Thats fine. I'm all the way Conor cuz this might be the only time I'm actually fully supporting Conor, cuz he reps the MMA and he's the underdog. We'll take advantage of all the advantages and that includes punking Floyd in every manner not giving up an inch.
U think showtime cares for respect more or the $$? If Conor can pull in money, there will be no bridge burning. Although I guess for this fight, they can totally promote Conor as the immature guy.
In MMA, its hard to get behind him cuz he fights all my favorites and no, I pick the eagle (if he can make weight) if they ever fought.
