Michael Chandler vs. Derek Campos joins Bellator 138, which moves to June 19 | MMAjunkie
Former Bellator MMA lightweight champion Michael Chandler has taken a co-headliner slot on one of the company’s biggest cards of the year.
Officials today announced Chandler (12-3 MMA, 9-3 BMMA) next meets Derek Campos (15-4 MMA, 4-2 BMMA) at Bellaor 138.
Although initially slated for June 20, officials confirmed a move to June 19 for the event. “Bellator 138: Unfinished Business,” which features Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson (4-2) vs. Ken Shamrock (28-15-2) in the headliner, takes place at Scottrade Center in St. Louis.
The main card airs on Spike TV following prelims on MMAjunkie.
Chandler recently fell out of the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA lightweight rankings following a three-fight skid. The ex-champ, a former NCAA Division I All-American wrestler at the University of Missouri who won his first 12 pro MMA bouts, suffered a split-decision loss to Eddie Alvarez in late 2013. He lost his belt in the process, and he then subsequently fought – and dropped another split decision – to Will Brooks in a fight for the interim belt.
Then, this past November, Chandler got his rematch, but the 28-year-old suffered a TKO loss to Brooks.
