Wife's cat does that too. Sneaks up like he's stalking a deer in the yard then rubs all over their legs like they're buddies.
That ended up being a lot more wholesome than I expected. Figured the buck would punt the cat. They really have no concept of their own size:

Saw them a couple weeks ago still too small at the time, they are waiting for mom to stop nursing before they do them all.
I had a cat that had that instinct
It had a few large dogs scared and they would walk on the other side of the street, ran a neighbors pitbull back into it's house and they had to ask me to keep her out of their yard
If I opened the door and said get em she would confront anything regardless of size
It was a 15 lb brindlecoat female and she had a mean on her whole life, was pretty funny. Young kids were scared of her simply due to her markings/face and piercing brindlecoat eyes. Great cat, kind of a dog type of personality.

A couple hundred cats and dogs get stomped to death every year by town deer here.
A buck called it a draw against my old malamute one year when I first moved here.
Literally why I bought a bow, I was gonna feed that fucker to my dog until cooler heads prevailed lol.
