Namajunas vs Kowalkiewicz set for UFC 201

A pivotal women's strawweight matchup between former title challenger Rose Namajunas and rising star Karolina Kowalkiewicz has been added to this summer's UFC 201 pay-per-view card, UFC officials confirmed Monday.

Namajunas (5-2) has won three-straight since her debut submission loss to Carla Esparza for the inaugural championship at The Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale in December 2014.

Kowalkiewicz (9-0) created big waves in her promotional debut, defeating standout strawweight and TUF semi-finalist Randa Markos by decision at UFC on FOX 17 this past December.

Should be a good fight. I think rose is one of the more exciting straw weights. ..great submission skills..and stays active on the ground.
She's got a couple inches on kowalkiewicz..and youth on her side. Just noticed most of KK's wins are from decisions. Rose might give her some trouble..hope we see another standing rnc..or at the very least some ninja kicks to the head.

KK is only 30 and has shown impeccable cardio. I doubt age will play a factor. She's in her prime.

That said, I think Rose has the tools to win this. Heather Jo Clark was actually going toe to toe with KK until her cardio went.

Didnt mean it as a disrespectful slam...for the love of dan henderson..we all know the older fighter can still pack a punch. Plus seasoned fighters have the edge of experience.
I just meant in general for competitive athletes..a 23 yr old body hasnt been abused like a 30 yr old body.

I think rose has a solid shot to be champ..might be a couple years away, but its coming. She's better every time i see her fight.
