I finally did it. Got a new, smart tv, unhooked Dish, and am off to the races. I hooked up the HD antenna. Everything seems to be working at a basic level. We have our Netflix, Amazon, and ESPN+ going. My question is with what do I need to do now to get regular ESPN and some other channels without paying much, or any. My wife is also asking about a DVR. Also, I normaly stream some stuff from my laptop, is there a way to watch those (fights) directly on my tv. I have a Best Buy down the street.

Oh, and another thing, we have pretty good wifi in the house, but the router is upstairs on the other side of the house. Is there a booster or amplifier I could use to make it even better?

Look into a mesh system for your wifi. Best thing going now. Can’t help with the TV apps. I know there are a few options out there. There are pay streaming services. I am sure someone here is more knowledgeable about them.

Amazon fire stick, pre-load a bunch of apps & you're off to the races.
PlutoTV is another decent app.

So for the fights, I just connected my Chromebook to the TV via a HDMI cord, it worked great! I might get a Chromecast, but for now, this works great! Honestly, it’s all we need. My kids don’t even watch tv. Everything they watch is on Youtube and Netflix. I don’t watch any sports besides MMA, and my wife just likes to get baked and watch PBS and Netflix. We’re pretty much covered. We went from paying $120.00 per month for Dish, to about $100.00 per month for stuff we we paying for already, Wifi,Netflix, ESPN+, and Amazon Prime, saving $1400.00 per year. I also got a new Mesh System and our wifi is awesome throughout our house now. We’re good.

Yep I use that for my desktop...love it

Any input on the Sticks?
i do everything through windows . i do use firestick builds on kodi though. they are pretty light weight and you dont really need all the bullshit that comes with the usual kodi builds. there is no need for 30 different movie addons that all have the exact same movies etc

so you are saying fire stick?

This lil Roku I got for 30 bucks is sweet for youtube netflix and amazon video...just easy to use for guests

Thinking a fire stick is a good way to leave the options open and will be able to do r MMA streeeem s without adding on

Firestick build on Kodi? explain that...I thought it would be a kodi build on a firestick

It's a device you put into your tv and will play whatever my phone tells it too. I got a tv yesterday. It has Netflix and all that bullshit on it but I didn't set it up because I was drunk. With this thing I can now stream to my tv and still use my phone at the same time. It was bothering me having to exit my stream to post during fights

I don’t use anything. All those are apps on my tv. I only pay for espn+. Everything else I get online right through my tv. It’s really simple. My 10 year old daughter taught me how to use it.
