It is interesting that guys are signing 4 fight contracts again, though. The days of 6-8 fight contracts seem to be fading into the past, lately.

Good for him. He's definitely on my radar after the Lombard fight. Dude has heart.
Heart and a damn good chin. He has shown to be susceptible to submissions against high-level bjj guys, but he's been working a lot on that part of his game.

Exciting as hell to watch, too. Never gets tired.

Wasn't Nate's 20/20 contract something like 6-8 fights?

Conor really did change his bum life.

so that's what was taking them so long. I was wondering why they didnt set a fight up for stun gun kim yet. They were negotiating a contract with magny. Kim vs Magny UFC 200! Mark it down

That is very interesting. when debating about fighter contracts, people are used to only speaking about the fighter pay, but im sure there are many other little incentives that make or break the contract...

a fighter could have a little more leverage and negotiate that his fights MUST be honored by the org; the org not being able to cut them when every they feel like it. another thing to keep in mind is fighter likeness... a fighter could negotiate his way out of life time likeness rights an org like the ufc usually adds in the contracts..

im not saying this happened with magny, but it definitely gets me thinking.

While many of them are theoretically possible, the UFC still have the vast majority of the leverage when it comes to negotiating contracts. Fighters will need a fair amount of leverage to even get one of those things. From what I understand most UFC contracts are fairly boilerplate.

I kind of even think 4 is too many, to be honest. That locks most in for 18-24 months. Maybe there are benefits to that, which I'm not aware of? But I would think in todays era of MMA free agency, no one would want to be locked into anything for any amount of time.

Thoughts on this? What am I missing here?

I love when Magny destroyed Lombard. Lombard is a gym bully and he got bullied in front of the whole world.
