I found the film incredibly disjointed. It was more like a mission impossible film with a spectre ( sic ) of Bond influence in it. The wide panoramic shots, great set pieces, a slice of British, wonderful music, gadgets, megalomaniac baddie. A baddies lair. And nods to past glories. And losses. And previous films of course.

But it falls down on narrative and characters. It wasn’t Bond. Bond has never been an ensemble. And again I don’t want to give anything away but one female character jars. They shoe horn stuff in like Mission Impossible to make stuff make sense, and to make it…..well woke. That said I can see the Wallace Bridger influence. And that pops. Probably my favourite scene was Paloma. That had her hallmark writing all over it.

I believe Danny Boyle would have nailed the tone. This feels maudlin and reflective. Like it’s the last one. And its clearly not. Very self indulgent. There’s one particular scene that is such a cliche it sign posts what’s going to happen and that’s a shame for a great character. Again no spoilers.

I enjoyed it and got serious goose bumps after the epic pre credits bit.

but overall it’s nowhere near casino royale level. The end needs to be seen in a theatre though. Don’t waste your time trying to get a duff copy. You need to see this in a cinema.

Didn't read, as I want to avoid spoilers.
An average Bond movie is still a good Bond movie. This will be Craig's last offering as 007 and he's been phenomenal.

If there's one thing I know about OP it's that if he says something isn't worth your time, you need to see it immediately because it's phenomenal.

Casino Royale is my favorite Bond movie of all time. Every Bond film since that one has been a disappointment tbh.

But I will still watch this one.

Think people need to lower their standards for a Bond movie.

It's a Bond movie! Just be happy It's a Bond movie!

I agree Casino Royale is great, it has one of the worst car chase scenes out of all Bond movies.

How much woke bullshit? Spoiler tags to confirm that Bond is emasculated and sidelined and marginalised by women in his own finale?

Or is it not so much of that?

Woulda been nice to see an Idris Elba 007.
Craig has been great.

Looks like hot Lea Seydoux is in this. Shame she won't show her titties, she does in 80 percent of her stuff.

Elba would have made a great Bond back in his Stringer days, but obviously way too old now.

. Well at one point his little crew is 2 black ladies one a bull dyke and I didn’t know this but apparently Q stands for Queer, at most moments he is being saved by a woman of some variety and making wrong assumptions about them on the regular. Oh James!

Yeah, getting bailed out by women doesn't surprise me at all. Because we all know that the point of James Bond has always been that he relies on somebody else to get him out of a jam. Because the appeal of the character has always been that he's not capable and badass enough to get himself out of a tight spot with his balls and his skills, right?

I'd also expect at least two instances of a younger woman of colour putting him in his place verbally with a smart off-the-cuff quip that he's not quick enough to respond to, leaving him looking like a gormless dimwit. At which point the entire movie will grind to a halt, so we can all savour the moment of seeing a genuinely beloved British icon being emasculated and made a joke of, in his own movie. Which is exactly what Bond audiences want to see, obviously.

Hopefully I'm completely wrong. Hopefully.

Not far off. The new black female character regularly mocks James Bond till the end where she makes a pointress ‘gift’ to him which is jarring even for her jarring character. He takes it all of course with stoic acceptance that this is the new world now. One of the best bits is where he meets a beautiful Cuban CIA operative on her first mission. but here’s the twist! She is a cross between wonder women and a Charlie’s angel. They flirt clumsily because Bond was never a ladies man and firmly tells her to turn around as he gets changed, because Bind has always been shy in front of stunning women. Then at the end of the action he shakes her hand, yes, he shakes her hand and says you were excellent….Again it just jars. Mission impossible yes. But Bond is definitely getting his fingers and tops before she exits stage left

I did like a character moment between Craig and Seydoux, the villain's daughter in that last one.

She's infuriated after an attack on her happens and Bond fights them off. She's still incensed. He says something sarcastic about not needing thanks.

She yells, "You idiot! Did it ever occur to you that you lead them to me?!"

And Craig's face acting is great: he clearly hadn't thought of it.

He's often getting shit from the women that aren't just fuck of the moment characters. M. Hot Moneypenny, etc.

Now I guess ya gotta make em weirdos too.

That’s more meta. And still in character. Some of the new stuff just isn’t Bond. He’s not a cuck or anything. He’s actually turned into John Wick. But its very different.
