Amanda Nunes had no interest in talking about UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko after her historic win at UFC 232.

In the UFC 232 co-main event, Nunes defeated Cris Cyborg in 51 seconds to win the women’s featherweight title and become the first female fighter to hold UFC titles in two divisions at the same time. The event took place Saturday night at The Forum in Inglewood, California. Nunes entered the bout as the women’s bantamweight titleholder.

After the fight at the post-fight press conference, a reporter asked Nunes about a potential trilogy fight against Shevchenko, who beat Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the vacant 125-pound title earlier this month. Nunes beat Shevchenko…

Not many options for Amanda at the moment, really. Megan isn’t ready for the heat Nunes would bring IMO.

    So who is there? Holm?

If she relinquishes featherweight title than they might as well scrap the division. If she keeps it and let’s the 135 go then honestly Holm would have a better chance winning that belt than beating Nunes at 145.

I bet Shevchenko tries to get the 135 belt now.

I’m not sure Bullet will want shot at a Amanda, TBH. That’s a tough match up for her.

I bet Nunez can beat a lot of dudes. She beat a woman who could beat a lot of dudes (acording to Rogan) and last night she actually beat a dude.

Cyborg fought with emotion, and Nunes stuck to basics . Only fighter who has a chance is Holly Holms.

Cyborg ran in like a first rate amateur

But then again its not like that hasn't worked for her before

She should have checked Amanda's police record for attempting that on her though. LOL

Ketlen Vieira is the most logical contender at Bantamweight, but you sure as fuck can't headline with that, so they'll have to get her one match and maybe commit to a marketing push (10-0 with two fairly big names on her resume and only 27, I have no idea why they aren't trying to market her more, there's no downside to marketing someone who's highly credible unless they're outright annoying). The winner of Holm vs. Aspen Ladd is more likely and I guess I'd be okay with that one.

Featherweight is sort of fucked right now though (now and always). Megan Anderson vs. Cris Cyborg could be used to headline a Brazilian card. If Megan pulled off the upset, she could be given a shot at Nunes' belt, and the division could be given a stay of execution. If not, then the UFC could just let Cyborg go into boxing and cut Megan. I'm not saying I want this, but it would be a natural and logical end to the division from the point of view of a company unwilling to invest in it. It would get them one more second-tier headliner and would also let the illusion of a division survive long enough to sufficiently milk Nunes' Champ Champ gimmick.

While obviously it's slim picking out there, I feel like the UFC didn't even try to make a W145 division. I get that half of y'all are hardly fans of WMMA, but it seems silly to open a divisions when you aren't gonna put the bare minimum effort into ensuring its survival if things don't go absolutely perfect. The TUF season was 1) a gimmick with few actual Featherweights (possibly zero) and 2) a good way to sign some natural Bantamweights who aren't gonna drop down to Flyweight. Aside from that they've only signed Cyborg and Megan Anderson, and with Cyborg they had no choice. They could have made this work, had a micro-division with a natural progression to the title that could have been done without painting themselves into a corner, but considering the UFC can barely manage to get their shit together at Welterweight these days, W145 never stood a chance.

They may as well scrap that division. It was made for cyborg, nunes just wrecked that. Just merge the two in the middle.

    This right here.

The entire division (really just one person) felt forced. Even having fighters go up to humor Cyborg, her, fighting smaller women from here on out. The unreachable summit has been reached, the beast had been slain, the reason they build that division in the first place has been savagely disposed of. No questionable win, no decision, no funky judging or reffing.

No, she was discarded like a used tampon, leaving the 145 division bare at best. Just have all the bigger women (probably three of them, tops) do "super-fights". It's what ends up happening anyways.

    They never wanted it.

They just wanted Cyborg, and tried hard to get her come down in weight. Cyborg could or did not want to come down and finally the UFC gave in. Gave her a division. It was doomed from day one when she refused to fight Holly for that title initially, with that Dutch chick ending up taking that belt. That did not go as rehearsed...

Before Cyborg was finally ready to fight, there would be only naturally smaller women having to fight for that bigger weight class. The first champ of that division was not even in that weight class. They brought in that division thinking it would work out such as the Tito division, or the Ronda division. Maybe not enough interest. Maybe not the right time.

Cyborg has been unbeaten for years , so she deserves another chance.
If she fought Nunes how she fought Holm's then it would have been a different story.

this wasn't a fluke, or a strategic error by Cyborg.

Nunes is faster, hits harder, and is a far better grappler than Cris.
Nothing about this fight makes me think Cyborg has any more than a puncher's chance against Amanda.

'trade' Cyborg to Rizin or ONE where she can do freak-show squash matches, and close the division.

Merge the two divisions into a women's 140lbs weightclass. Anyone feel they are too small can move to the very unnecessary 125lb division.

Although truthfully we have too many weight classes and would prefer to see women's mma move to another organisation as well as scrap the 125lb man division.

Then stop with the 'super fights' and champ champ nonsense as I have not seen one legitimate claim at double champ yet.

What we have is multiple people move up for a one off and essentially ruin a division just to retire or move back down.

Although the most legitimate champ champ we have is Nunes and we have Mcgregor as the least legitimate.

We need our SPORT back and away with this nonsense of popular fighters getting better treatment and money fights.

Strip ant champion who refuses to fight every 6 months injury or not. Or even strip them if they refuse to fight the next rank guy.

The way I see it but would have to fact check..

Conor hasn't a single defence for either title where the rest have at least defended in one or both weight classes.

He also took the title from Alvarez who to be honest wasnt the top lightweight at the time with at least three fighters who if given the shot would have beat him and defended against conor.

I know Gsp took on a lesser in Bisbing but gsp does have multiple title defenses in his original weightclass.

    Nunes has defenses.

Cormier although got the belt through jones stupidity has defended both belts.

The rest of the champ champs have came so long ago that it is irrelevant in today's landscape so I wont count them.

Conor is the least legitimate modern champ champ and would get beat by either champ in the two weight classes he won the belts.

This is my opinion though I know some will argue but hey that's why I am here instead of keeping my thoughts to myself. Cheers
