Incredibly dumb fight for Gus to take, but I'd like to see it.
He hasn’t fought in 14 months. I don’t think he should turn down any fight and expect a title shot in the near future.
Yeah there are many situations where I understand someone turning down a replacement fight, but Gus needs to fight anybody they'll put in front of him right now. Looked good last time against Teixeira but that momentum is gone after his absence. He's gotta get back in there asap.
Even against a smaller heavyweight would be good imo and theoretically not affect his LHW ranking.
Some fights you can turn down though - guys like OSP/Latifi/Anderson give Gus a name win and are posssibly even stylistically easier fights. Apart from a paycheck, Gus gets absolutely nothing from beating Rountree and it's a dangerous fight.
I want to see it, but if I were Gus, I'd laugh and ask the UFC if they thought I was a complete retard for even offering me that fight.
If Shogun can win against Smith and is healthy lets have him do the dang thing with Gus again,and then he can legit earn his shot at DC

If DC is serious about defending the LHW strap before the end of the year, make the Gus fight happen. Much prefer that to DC/Shogun. Or if DC is planning on relinquishing the LHW belt, then do Gus/Shogun for a fun but less than deserving title fight.

This..... That Brock fight won't take place until next year, DC fighting Gus should be next on the list
As soon as I posted that I realized that I think Smith will probably beat Shogun so that plan may not work. If he does win though, I think it makes sense.

shogun vs Gus 1 was a pretty good fight...both guys landed well and Gus won the fight shooting takedowns to avoid engaging Rua
