Not anymore it doesn’t, it just takes money.
If that were true the Yankees would win every World Series. Money can buy talent, but it can't buy guys that want to be there and want to play for the program. These teams getting kids just because they're throwing the most money at them are going to find out pretty quickly they might as well flush their money down the toilet.

He didn't say the most money. More like the ones that are smartest with their money.

Lol, there is nothing that will make a team when the title every year, but talent will keep you contending.

What you’re asserting is just silly. “Well, you know, we have a ways to go before beating programs like Ohio State because their players really want to be there.”

WTF do you think Oregon players are doing every Saturday, just casually passing time? They’re playing their asses off just like every other school.

Unfortunately they've been through a few coaches which is like hitting the reset button.
I say keep searching, even though I like Lanning.
He coaches too cute and IMO too Cocky, it steals them a bunch of wins but they usually just get manhandled eventually by a smashmouth team from SEC...or in this case OSU

They should have used a drone to bring a briefcase full of money across the field today. See how tOSU does without Chip

But that's a talent evaluation problem. I'm sure Lanning is addressing it but geography plays into that as well.

Eugene is an amazing location for 8 months of the year but a lot of young warm weather acclimated people won't want to be here during this part of our weather cycle. Also quite a bit of culture shock for most due to many variables. Close but no cigar, yet.

Stewart didn't play today, and no one really knows why. He also apparently has a rep of shopping schools to see what's in it for him. They could be the most talented guys in the world, but if you have a team full of them, you're never going to win shit.

Agreed. He’s a moth to the flame with high risk high reward calls as well, and they often blow up in his face.

Yeah, Stewart comes across like a self-involved chump, don’t disagree there.

Chip has been way too conservative with this team.

I'm on record as saying Howard isn't the QB they hoped he'd be. He's played well the last 2 games but many times this season he has looked very pedestrian despite the offensive weapons at every skill position.

The fake punts and risky 4th downs always make me cringe because I know what happens when they play somebody evenly matched or better.

He is a ballsy coach and a great leader, I give him that. He will be around winning lots of games for many years at Oregon or elsewhere.

The thing is, that tends to be what throwing at money gets you. See: Alex Rodriguez
No it doesn’t. Money has become a primary variable with every single player signing with a big program.

One of the reasons why douchebags like A-Rod stick out is because they’re uncommonly high on the scale of selfish.

Most players are not like Stewart or Rodriguez, and I doubt they make up the majority of Oregon’s roster.

And I’m not implying teams should buy up every whore going for the highest dollar, I’m just saying modern CFB players are also conducting business, and they want to conduct business with teams that can pay.

Oregon can pay.

I'll trade you tonight's playoff win for an undefeated record?
Nah. I'm good.

A little worried about Ewers looking to get some revenge against the team that wouldn't play him - but I like this team's chances of getting to - and winning - the Natty if they keep playing this well.
