Well they do have value. The SEC champion. Put in any other conference title there as well. The winner got a bye and the loser dropped but bc tex had only lost to Georgia (twice lol) they literally dropped them to just outside the top 4.

Thing is, they said that teams who didn't play in championship games wouldn't be penalized for it. So if Texas was just like "Nah, we've got laundry to do" they'd have kept their 2 ranking.
