They bought the roster of fighters , not necessarily the promotionThe Fritatas are mafia. And of course they knew Pride was mafia too - like we all did. But the fact they got fleeced for 70 million for an almost worthless Pride brand thinking they could run events in Japan under that banner shows that they had no fucking idea how business actually worked in Japan.
Revisionist history is to suggest that Pride's demise was somehow a Fritata master plan. That's ridiculous.
Don’t forget, with the deal came the PrideFC video Library. They bought the roster of fighters , not necessarily the promotion
Kept BLOCKBUSTER VIDEO aliveDon’t forget, with the deal came the PrideFC video Library.
But they did buy the promotion and openly intended to run it as such. They bought the roster of fighters , not necessarily the promotion
I think they bought the roster to bring those fighters to the Octagon brandBut they did buy the promotion and openly intended to run it as such.
Well, you think wrong. They intended to continue to run Pride as a separate promotion in Japan while also doing 'crossover fights'.I think they bought the roster to bring those fighters to the Octagon brand
Haha. Forgot about the Dream aspect. I enjoyed Rogan clearly thinking it was funny too.@Hong Kong Phooey @lordofthepies
Here is Chemtrail Warrior Joey Hogan’s take on the Pride Purchase:
(Only a couple minutes video)
Yeah, the UFC had ZERO to do with the tabloid outing of PRIDE. That was a behind-the-scenes Yakuza struggle between the Yakuza guys backing K-1 and the Yakuza guys backing PRIDE. Sakakibara lost, PRIDE was destroyed and he was banished for years.I actually took it as a bizarre attempt to insinuate that they were behind it in order to take credit for it. It was so weirdly worded.
Pride was funded by the Yakuza - that's not a rumor. It was an open secret until it just became too open. To suggest it was a couple of planted tabloid stories peddling false rumors that did them in is fucking laughable. The Fritatas had nothing to do with Pride's demise. They did however, pay 70 million bucks to acquire some contracts and a TV library.
