Not in N.J. or Oregon; now just N.J.are not allowed to pump your own gas in some states?
nope there is always a few attendants on hand to do what you came to do.What the fuck so it is real? You are not allowed to pump your own gas in some states? I thought it was an Onion article of sorts.
What is the reason? Too dangerous? Because I have been pumping gas all my life and I never died before. Not in N.J. or Oregon; now just N.J.
Me too. I lived in Oregon six months ago!I am old enough that I remember full service gas stations
The official story in N.J. is that it was a concern about safety, but rumor is that it was a job protection issue that arose when the first self service stations opened. Unclear to me why it has never changed. What is the reason? Too dangerous? Because I have been pumping gas all my life and I never died before.
Do they still clean your windshield and have you sign a credit card slip on a little clipboard they pass through your window?Me too. I lived in Oregon six months ago!
Usually, you get out to swipe your card, or just hand the card to them and let them do it for a credit card. They'll clean your window if you ask. Tips are expected in that case.Do they still clean your windshield and have you sign a credit card slip on a little clipboard they pass through your window?
One time in my 18 years of driving I drove off with the gas pump still in my car, but there's a safety mechanism in the hose to prevent any damage in these cases. What is the reason? Too dangerous? Because I have been pumping gas all my life and I never died before.
Yes.
its about jobsWhat is the reason? Too dangerous? Because I have been pumping gas all my life and I never died before.
yep
But then if they swipe for you that means you have to give them your zip code?yep
some make you swipe your own
that is really silly cause then the pumper has nothing to do at all
illegal to start the gas pumping....but legal to put it away after
i suppose soBut then if they swipe for you that means you have to give them your zip code?
Isn't that a bit of a security risk?
So people are flocking away from Oregon now to find luck elsewhere?its about jobs
I think it was some sort of job thing back in the day...mostly convict looking dudes and "i can't work for myself type of people" IMOSo people are flocking away from Oregon now to find luck elsewhere?
It's only in Eastern OR (very rural) counties, and it's optional. It also doesn't apply to gas stations with a garage or convenience store. Not in N.J. or Oregon; now just N.J.
the 'reason' is that people top off their tanks and spill gas in to the pristine waterways of Oregon, or don't turn their gas caps through the 'click' to ensure that the vapor recovery system is working.no

good folks but they just seem to want' to hang around fumes and pump gas for min wage I guess.
Might affect our price of fuel...I dunno
