WHAT UP, NERDZ!

We're having a frustrating issue in-house right now: we have 3 employees on macs using Outlook 2011 on an exchange server. All the sudden about 2 months ago, Outlook started forgetting the account password of the logged in user every fifteen or so minutes and would pop up a password prompt. It's extremely annoying and 2 of the 3 employees experiencing this are the CEO and President.

We've tried turning off app nap in the Mac settings and various local Outlook login fixes- entering the account differently, whatever. Nothing works and after calling the folks that manage our exchange server, Apple and Microsoft, not only have they never heard of the issue, but they have no idea how to fix it. I SERIOUSLY doubt we're the only 3 people on Earth to have this issue- especially because I've seen the bug posted to online forums.

If ANYONE has any idea what the fix could be you would have my undying gratitude.

not sure why this solution is not being spread around more. But to fix this issue, what you have to do it add a "\" before your username. for example:
Username: \domain\username
Password: whatever your password is
Make sure you save to your keychain after. This has worked for me. I'm not sure where I found this, but it was a lifesaver. Hope it helps for you!

Check keychain access settings under utilities to see if the passwords are being saved under the keychain. Keychain is where all saved passwords are stored on a Mac. Find the key under 'login' and delete it so that next time you save it it recreates in the keychain.

You can also delete the entire keychain and recreate it.

Yeah, I've tried all this stuff. We've even tried calling Apple and Microsoft directly. Want to know what they said? Microsoft said, "Call Apple". And Apple?

...they said fuck you :)

Try deleting Outlook preferences by getting rid of these files.....

com.microsoft.Outlook.plist
com.microsoft.outlook.database_daemon.plist
com.microsoft.outlook.database_utility.plist
com.microsoft.outlook.office_reminders.plist
com.microsoft.Outlook.SyncServicesPreferences.plist

Make sure that you've reset keychain as well.

Also try....

Create a new identity with the Microsoft Database Utility.

Delete the mailbox and recreate.
