Jiu-jitsu expert Rousimar Palhares returns to competition Saturday in Poole, England, in a 15-minute submission match against Garry Tonon in the main event of Polaris Pro 3, and the match could mean more than proving he’s the better grappler.

Currently serving a two-year suspension in MMA after controversial actions in his WSOF title defense against Jake Shields, including holding the submission too long after his opponent tapped, "Toquinho" sees the grappling match as a chance to show the world that he has changed.

"No doubt about it. You get more mature after every battle, you learn something and get better in every aspect of your life," Palhares told MMAFighting.com. "Fighting is my life. It’s an opportunity to show everybody that I worked hard to evolve in this aspect. You will see the result, for sure. The most important is that I’m fine."

From what I hear, Gary Tonon is another leg expert. Should be interesting...
Belcher was able to nullify Paul Harris leg game in MMA.

How many times has Palhares been warned or held on to a sub after tapping now?

Zombie Phrophet has some short vids on his Twitter, it looks like a mini Hulk vs a human. He tossed Tonon like tissue paper

I've could've sworn it was like 3 or 5 times now, gotta do some research later on I guess.
People complain about it after every fight, but the commissions only saw fit to do anything about it twice. Drwal back in 2010, and Shields; which really only became an issue because of Shields post fight sucker punch.

I honestly didn't think the shields one was bad at all. If I remember the videos right he let go within one second of the ref touching him.

He's a broken record!! But given Tonon's ground game he could be in for a taste of his own medicine ;)

I agree. The video also agrees with you, but after he did let go Shields took a swing at him. So to explain away why it was okay to sucker punch a guy. The ref who was way out of position (as he's known to be) and the guy who should've been looking at a lengthy suspension threw the guy who doesn't speak English under the bus.

I really don't think shields actions were ok. He should of received as long or longer of a sentence. Complain about the eye gouged if you want but that's the refs job to stop that.

Again fully agree, but instead the hearing turned into a lynching.
