There should be repercussions, and the company behind parler should face those repercussions for leaving their API's PUBLIC, allowing anyone to create an admin account.
I’m not a full jet boat owner, but can you explain to me what an API is and how this lady hacked in? Was this just a massive oversight by Parler? I don’t know much about this type of internet security (I study rocks and groundwater, so
this is way out of my wheelhouse), so please explain like I am a full jet boat owner.

An API is an application programming interface, basically it allows you to interact with a site, program, whatever, programmatically. It's a MASSIVE oversight to leave API's open to the public for this type of site. I would say it's even negligent to do so because of all the PII.

Think of an API with parler like a public mailbox you only use for communication with parler. You can put in and send stuff over it or receive stuff over it.
Only in this case (no security), the mailbox has walls of glass and no roof. And the stuff inside it has no envelope either. Everybody who comes by and is willing to can read everything if he or she chooses to.
And parler allowed someone that tried to access all of these mailboxes at once.

Nice try but not really an explanation for full jet boat owners me thinks

So its ok to hack sites and steal information along as it's for the socialist agenda and to continue to attack anything conservative

Russia hacks hilarys half assed security and it's worth a massive investigation but this is tolerated

Welcome to the age of oppression

Also I dont think you can read parlers "public posts" because you need an account to view posts iirc. At the very minimum it's a violation of the TOS.

who really gives a fuck about tos anyway

They allowed people to make admin accounts through the API, it was wide open and public.

Again I'm not arguing that it's a dumb ass move on the site. I'm not even against the archiving of public posts but when they also have personal information I hope they dont leak that.

You are trying so hard to pin me as a defender of parler when in reality it's just peoples personal information registered to a website I dont like seeing comprised

Agreed, and parler will hopefully be sued into oblivion.

I believe they did and made a map that shows what users were posting from where.

Who would've guessed that a website which caters to right-wing fuck boys might not have the most intelligent people working for it?

I feel like the only reason you remotely care about the topic is because it's a conservative site. You seem to hate anything right leaning yet you used to post the in favor of nearly all rightwing ideas. Its mildly amusing but also confusing
